Emma Roberts’ love life has made headlines since her teen years.
The actress has been in several high-profile relationships, most famously her tumultuous on-again, off-again romance with Evan Peters.
Although the two called it quits for good in 2019 and have both since moved on, the exes made headlines for a tense reunion when they both promoted Season 13 of Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story.”

Alex Pettyfer
Robert’s first public relationship was with Alex Pettyfer, who she met on the set of her 2008 film “Wild Child.”
The duo dated for about a year and Pettyfer even got Roberts’ initials tattooed on his finger.
“I got a girl’s name tattooed on my ring finger because I was in love,” he admitted to Glamour UK in 2010. “We’ve broken up, but I don’t live in regret.”
Ryan Sheckler
After her relationship with Pettyfer, Roberts appeared to move on with professional skateboarder Ryan Sheckler.
The pair were briefly romantically linked in 2009, making a few public appearances together.
Roberts and Sheckler later attended the 2010 Teen Choice Awards as friends after their split.
Dathan Kuppin
The “Aquamarine” star dated University of Southern California student Dathan Kuppin for nearly two years.
They first got together in 2009 before splitting in 2011.
During their relationship the former couple were often spotted in hot spots around West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
Chord Overstreet
Roberts and Chord Overstreet were first linked in 2011, but called it quits after several months of dating in early 2012.
However, the “We’re the Millers” actress and the “Glee” alum seemingly rekindled their relationship in April 2012 after they were spotted packing on the PDA at Coachella.
They split for good later that year.
Evan Peters
Roberts first met Peters in 2012 on the set of “Adult World,” though nothing romantic happened between them until they finished shooting.
“On set, I was like ‘Oh yeah, we’re totally going to date,’ and I would try to flirt with him, which ended up looking like I had something in my eye,” Roberts recalled to Chelsea Handler in February 2014. “He literally didn’t speak to me the entire movie, like thought I was so weird.”
They sparked romance rumors that July after being photographed holding hands at a wedding, and they made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards.
Six months later, Roberts was arrested following an alleged domestic violence incident at a hotel in Canada.
She was released from jail shortly after, and Peters — who reportedly sustained a bloody nose during the alleged altercation — didn’t press charges.
“It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding,” the pair’s reps said in a statement at the time. “Ms. Roberts was released after questioning, and the couple are working together to move past it.”
Despite the incident, the “X-Men” star popped the question seven months later in January 2014.
Throughout their relationship, the two continued to co-star on “AHS,” beginning with “Coven” in 2013 and followed by “Freak Show” in 2014, “Cult” in 2017 and “Apocalypse” in 2018.
“It’s really amazing,” Peters gushed about working with Roberts during a March 2014 interview with People after “Coven” wrapped filming. “You’re at set, and you’re in a city that you don’t really know that well. It’s nice to have your best friend there to go to dinner with and check out the city.”
The two, however, abruptly called off their engagement in June 2015.
“They grew apart,” a source said after the split. “They both had a lot of growing to do, and it was better that they do it on their own.”
But Roberts and Peters continued dating on and off until early 2019.
After months of speculation surrounding their relationship status, Roberts cleared things up by going Instagram-official with Peters in March 2016.
Peters even declared his love for Roberts at the premiere of “American Horror Story: Hotel” in October of that year.
“She is really great,” he said on the carpet. “I just love her.”
After several more breakups and makeups, however, they called it quotes for good in March 2019.
Two months later, Roberts candidly discussed the breakup, claiming “no one knows the real story” of her and Peters’ relationship.
“I think that no matter who you are or what you do or wherever in the world you are, anything ending is hard,” she told Cosmopolitan at the time. “Losing something is hard.”
When the two reunited for “AHS” in May 2026, fans assumed the two were not on good terms, but a source exclusively told Page Six otherwise.
“Emma and Evan get along great,” an insider told us. “They’re filming right now,” our insider shared. “There is zero issue between the two of them, hence why they agreed to be on stage together.”
Christopher Hines
After her first split from Peters, Roberts stepped out with director Christopher Hines in June 2016.
At the time, a source told Us Weekly that the duo were introduced by their mutual friend, fashion designer Brit Elkin.
“Chris is one of the most understanding and laid-back guys,” the source said.
However, the pair called it quits after several months of dating and Roberts reconciled with Peters.
Hayden Christensen
Roberts made headlines in October 2017 after Rachel Bilson reportedly found text messages between the former Nickelodeon star and her then-boyfriend Hayden Christensen.
Bilson accused Christensen of having an inappropriate relationship with Roberts while filming “Little Italy” with her.
Despite the drama, Roberts never publicly commented on the scandal and ultimately continued her relationship with Peters.
Garrett Hedlund
Roberts was first romantically linked to Garrett Hedlund in March 2019 — the same month she and Peters called it off for good.
A source initially told Us Weekly that their relationship was “new, casual, and just a couple of weeks old,” adding that they were “having fun and enjoying each other.”
However, Page Six reported she was expecting their first child by June 2020.
The couple welcomed their son, Rhodes, in December 2020.
Roberts and Hedlund broke up following a rocky few months in their relationship, sources confirmed to People in January 2022.
“It’s sad, and they are trying their best to co-parent. It’s been hard,” an insider told the outlet.
Shortly after news of their split broke, the musician was arrested for public intoxication.
Cody John
News of Roberts’ romance with Cody John broke in August 2022 when he posted a photo of them kissing on Instagram.
Less than two months later, E! News reported that the Roberts and John were “taking it slow” after mutual friends in the industry had introduced them.
“Emma loves Cody’s personality,” a source told the outlet at the time. “He’s really funny, and they have been having a good time together.”
The outlet noted that Roberts did not want to rush into a relationship for her son Rhode’s sake.
“Emma is cautious about bringing her son around new people but knows the day will come soon,” the source explained.
The pair got engaged in July 2024, announcing the news via Instagram.
