Selena Gomez has opened up on why she was ‘sobbing’ after her wedding to Benny Blanco – and it’s a more relatable reason than you’d think.

For those who missed it, the singer and actress, 33, and music producer, 37, tied the knot last month (27 September) during a lavish ceremony in Santa Barbara, California. The Wizards of a Waverley Place star looked glamorous in an ivory halter-neck gown designed by Ralph Lauren while her new hubby opted for a black and white tuxedo.

According to Vogue, 170 guests attended, with long-time pal Taylor Swift by her side and Selena’s Only Murders In The Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short also believed to have been there to support her.

Following the wedding, Selena shared a carousel of stunning images alongside the caption ‘9.27.25,’ capturing the pair on their big day following a nine-month engagement.

“My wife in real life,” Blanco sweetly commented on his bride’s post.

And while it certainly seemed like a picture perfect day, Selena has since lifted the lid on how she felt afterwards – particularly her irrational fears that she’d lose everything.

Speaking during her panel at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women conference in Washington DC on Wednesday (October 15), Selena very candidly opened up on the feeling, which is something many struggle with.

As per MailOnline, she explained: “This is how I work personally, but something great happens in my life, I expect something bad to happen.

“So instead of being present and saying, ‘Okay, wow, we’ve done a great thing,’ which I do, I’m always thinking, ‘Okay, but this could all go away tomorrow, so how can I make sure that doesn’t happen?'”

Selena admitted: “I would say that’s my biggest conflict sometimes when wonderful things happen. I got married and then I was sobbing because I was like, ‘I’m gonna die the next day.’

“I just think that’s a little life thing.”

Fans have rushed to praise the star for her honesty, with one user writing on Twitter: “Honestly this is so relatable. I have a hard time not waiting for the shoe to drop when something makes me truly happy in life.”

While a second added: “I need some psychological explanation for that one because girl same” and a third wrote: “Yes, I am like this too. She describes it very well.”

Meanwhile, others chimed in with: “She’s so relatable” and “I relate so hard.”

During the event on Wednesday, Selena also spoke about how she had to fight to get people to take her seriously when she first entered the business world.

“I think a lot of people would have preconceived ideas of what I’m good at, and I should stay in my lane, and I should do what I’m here to do,” she said, “But what I’m here to do is make a difference.”

In 2020, she founded beauty brand Rare Beauty, a Gen-Z favourite beauty empire which is now estimated to be worth $2.7 billion.
