The ‘ghost mansion’

A content creator known as The Bearded Explorer has amassed millions of views after conducting an in-depth exploration of an $10 million deserted mansion allegedly connected to Hollywood star Johnny Depp and former England football captain John Terry.

The impressive estate, situated in Belbins, Romsey, and covering 11 acres, broke ground in 2004 but was never finished or lived in. According to the YouTube personality, the 12-bedroom residence was only ever occupied when squatters briefly took up residence in 2012.

While figuring out how to gain entry to the mansion, urban explorer Colin Smith stumbled upon an eerie find: a hidden underground escape passage, which he chose to traverse in an attempt to reach the building. Utilizing a flashlight to demonstrate to viewers the extensive length and darkness of the substantial metal corridor, he remarked: “This is mad. This was the escape tunnel from the main mansion. I’ll tell you what, it’s nice and cool in here, it really is.”

As he ventured further into the passage, he encountered what he suspected was an “escape exit” or “ventilation shaft.”

Nevertheless, he hit a dead end after several minutes, which appeared obstructed, with Colin noting: “It looks like it’s been pushed by something on the other side. It’s a shame we can’t get through. You can almost feel a breeze coming through, actually. God, this is so crazy!”

He subsequently gained access to the main residence, which remained incomplete but featured the framework of a swimming pool, a subterranean aquarium, an artificial lake, a movie theater, and an underground parking facility capable of accommodating 10 vehicles. While exploring, he even uncovered architectural plans revealing the property’s intended final appearance.

His exploration was abruptly cut short when law enforcement officers arrived to remove him from the premises. Colin informed his audience: “Unfortunately, the police have turned up and are escorting us off-site. Just a big shout out to anyone else wanting to come here – don’t because the place is wired to the police and they will turn up, so don’t waste your time, it’s not worth it.”

In the footage, he explained to the officers that he had been inside the structure for approximately an hour before the security system activated.

His audience quickly responded with comments about the mysterious estate, with one viewer stating: “I live just a stone’s throw from this, I pass it every day and always admire the big eagles on the entrance gates!

“Rumors are correct, Johnny Depp supposedly owned it, and talk of our small town was the underground garage! It’s a shame to see it just left to decay!”

Another commented: “The cops on this video were a class act, and it was nice to see how politely the whole thing was carried out.” A third remarked: “Such a beautiful house that was never finished. This is so sad.”
