9 Celebrity Couples Who Made Their Red Carpet Debut at Golden Globes

The 2026 Golden Globes are going to be a major red carpet event as always and (hopefully) we’ll have the usual celebrity couples showing off their love on the red carpet. The show has always been the first stop during awards show season, so the Golden Globes are the perfect place to debut a new relationship — it’s a fun, relaxed, and often tipsy event (there’s a lot of alcohol at those tables).

Over the years, it’s been the place for George and Amal Clooney to make their husband-and-wife debut — she was formerly known as Amal Alamuddin. It’s where Portia de Rossi made it clear that not only is she dating Ellen DeGeneres, but she’s also a member of the LGBTQ+ community, during an era when it was more difficult to come out in Hollywood. And we appreciate Rachel Bilson for spilling all the tea on her short-lived romance with Bill Hader, which generated significant internet buzz after their 2020 Golden Globes appearance.

The Golden Globes are the perfect way to make a red carpet debut, and our fingers are crossed that we’ll see her debut at the 2026 awards show on Jan 11!

George & Amal Clooney

George and Amal Clooney made their husband-and-wife debut at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards in 2015, where they established their fashion-icon status with their coordinated black-and-white outfits. George, who wore his Giorgio Armani wedding tux to the event, joked to Ryan Seacrest about making the night special, “As long as she doesn’t get the train stepped on, then I’ve succeeded.”

Norman Reedus & Diane Kruger

After meeting on the film set of Sky in 2015, it was quite evident that Diane Kruger and Norman Reed’s had major chemistry. There were rumors of an alleged affair while she was dating Joshua Jackson, but that was never confirmed.

“I think when I really, truly came out was the Golden Globes when Arrested Development was nominated. Ellen and I had been together for a month, and I was very, very nervous going to that because I knew that I was going to meet up with her after the show, and that there was press,” she explained on Inside the Actors Studio, via Hollywood.com. “That was the first time we stepped out together as a couple, but, for me, it was the first time I stepped out as a gay woman, really.”

Bill Hader & Rachel Bilson

Bill Hader is quietly becoming the Pete Davidson of Hollywood — he’s reportedly quite the heartbreaker, according to Rachel Bilson. There had been rumors the couple were dating before the 2020 Golden Globes, but it took the red-carpet event to confirm the news. Their bliss wouldn’t last long because by July, the duo was dunzo and Bilson spilled many of the details on her Broad Ideas podcast with guest Audrey Plaza who wanted to know how serious their relationship was.
 
“We dated. I went to the f**king Golden Globes,” Bilson blurted out. LOL — Hollywood really is like high school; those red-carpet dates are just as important as prom.

Michelle Williams & Thomas Kail

Michelle Williams and Thomas Kail’s love blossomed on the set of Fosse/Verdon in 2018 when he directed several episodes. However, their relationship was described by an Us Weekly source as “messy behind the scenes” because Williams was married to musician Phil Elverum, and Kail was married to Broadway star Angela Christian.

Nicole Scherzinger made her rumored beau Thom Evans red carpet official by taking him as her date to the InStyle and Warner Bros. Pictures Golden Globes Afterparty in 2020. The couple met on the celebrity version of The X factor U.K. — he was a contestant, and she was a judge. Jim Carrey’s dating life isn’t discussed much, but in 2019, he made his red carpet debut with actress Ginger Gonzaga at the Showtime Golden Globes Nominees Celebration.
