Meghan Markle became the subject of Hollywood comeback speculation after reports linked her to The Gentlemen, Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series. However, sources cited by Naughty But Nice claim the situation has since turned contentious, raising questions about whether the Duchess ever had a genuine opportunity to join the show.
According to the publication, Meghan spoke with the series’ casting director but never received a formal offer of a role. Although neither party confirmed a deal, speculation about her potential appearance captured public attention and fueled reports that she would return to acting.
“Meghan was delighted when everyone thought Guy Ritchie wanted her,” the insider told Naughty But Nice. “She enjoyed every headline. But once it became clear there was no role, the story suddenly changed from Hollywood comeback to Hollywood betrayal!”
According to Hollywood insiders, Meghan’s conversation with the casting director did not lead to a formal job offer or an agreement with the production team. “She wasn’t fired. She wasn’t rejected from a job she’d been offered. There was never a deal,” the source said.
The insider also claimed that Meghan was acting as if Netflix owed her an apology over the situation. The controversy has allegedly frustrated Ritchie, the British filmmaker behind The Gentlemen and several well-known crime films.
The same source also claims Ritchie hates when critics drag him into disputes over Meghan’s reported acting ambitions. “Guy is furious about being dragged into this circus,” the insider claimed. “He makes movies, not Meghan’s publicity problems.”
The reported tension may also involve Netflix executives, as another industry insider claimed that they are unhappy with the situation. “Hollywood has a long memory,” the insider warned. “You don’t attack the people you’re hoping will hire you tomorrow.”
