Bangkok, Thailand’s vibrant capital city, is now also home to a world-class museum of contemporary art. Late last year, Dib Bangkok opened in a three-storey converted warehouse in Khlong Toei, in an area between Bangkok’s main throughway Rama IV Road and Soi Sukhumvit 40.

Dating back to the 1980s, the original building was redesigned by Kulapat Yantrasast of Why Architecture in collaboration with Thailand-based international architectural design firm Architects 49 (A49).

The exhibition space follows a minimal design concept inspired by the Buddhist idea of enlightenment. A central courtyard, an outdoor sculpture garden and a penthouse space are also part of the building.
