For decades, luxury hotels and cruise ships occupied different corners of the travel industry.
It also reflects a broader shift in luxury travel, where the journey itself has become as important as the destination. Instead of simply booking an expensive suite, guests are buying access to small ports, private excursions, watersports and multi-destination itineraries.
