While neither has confirmed anything publicly, the internet went wild when photos of the couple in Sydney, Australia, showcased a stunning engagement ring.

However, fans were left intrigued this Monday when the bride-to-be made her first public appearance without the ring on her finger.

Skipping the engagement ring for major events has become a rising trend among celebrities, as some prefer a discreet approach, while others can’t resist showing off their jaw-dropping diamonds.

Zendaya has only worn hers at a handful of events. Until now, fans were left wondering if Dove Cameron would join the club of reserved fiancées, and her look at the CFDA Awards on Monday in New York City left no room for doubt.

The singer stepped out for the most prestigious fashion awards. She chose a custom Carolina Herrera gown, marking her first time representing the brand as campaign face and ambassador since 2020.

Speaking to the press, she praised the brand and the creative director, Wes Gordon. Her dress featured a draped corset tailored to perfection in exquisite gold-thread brocade, paired with a black velvet mermaid skirt that matched her opera-length gloves.

Royals have worn opera gloves since the 17th century, with their name officially solidified during the 19th-century Regency era, the period that inspired ‘Bridgerton.’ For monarchs like Queen Elizabeth II, gloves were practical, protecting against germs while greeting officials and guests, a habit so meticulous she reportedly carried three extra pairs in her bag.

Today, they are synonymous with red-carpet glamour. Although opera gloves fell out of everyday fashion during WWII, the post-war economic and social revival sparked a renewed love for Old Hollywood maximalism.

But Dove Cameron’s choice feels intentional as fans are talking about her engagement to the Italian musician.

The engagement news comes shortly after the couple celebrated their second anniversary in October. The former Disney star shared an emotional message on social media, describing the relationship as the “best two years of my life.”

Rumors first began swirling in September 2023, when the actress attended one of Damiano’s New York concerts. By February 2024, they confirmed their relationship with a red-carpet debut at a pre-Grammy gala. Since then, they’ve been inseparable, traveling the world and supporting each other’s careers.
