For most of us, a ‘fancy’ hotel might simply be one where breakfast is included and the complimentary dressing gowns are extra fluffy. But for a lucky few who are accustomed to personal butlers and city centre views, that wouldn’t even be the bare minimum. Luckily, though, it turns out that even the most premium of guests are spoiled for choice in London.

Luxury Travel Intelligence (LTI), a members-only website which provides advice on high-end hotels and holiday destinations, has compiled a list of the very best luxury hotel chains in the world right now, and the company which came out on top has two locations in London.

According to LTI, ‘this is not just another ranking’. What sets it apart? ‘A meticulously defined assessment process’ where a ‘rigorous algorithm evaluates the performance and values’ of the entrants. This includes ‘130 key touchpoints’ which are individually weighted, adding up to a total of 4,663 points. The score each company gets is then converted into a percentage, which allows a ranking to form.

So which brand is leading the way? Mandarin Oriental, which also came first last year, at 81.8 percent. The brand has one hotel looking onto Hyde Park, and another newer branch in Mayfair. LTI said that it has ‘consistently enhanced its overall score for three consecutive years’, and that this has earned it ‘a loyal and expanding customer base that values its dedication to excellence’.

It won’t surprise you that rooms here don’t come cheap. A room at the Hyde Park Mandarin will set you back, at the very least, £1,150, and a night in the Presidential Suite can get up to £6,100. That’s not even the fanciest room – you have to email and personally enquire if you want to book those.

Bulgari, which achieved 80 percent and came third, also has a location in London. Nights here are slightly more affordable, starting at £826 per night, and its Knightsbridge location makes it ideal for anyone seeking luxury in London.

Of the top five rated companies, four had at least one hotel in London.

The best luxury hotel brands in the world for 2025, according to Luxury Travel Intelligence

Here are the 10 best luxury hotel chains in the world, according to LTI, including scores and whether or not they’ve made it to the capital yet.

    1. Mandarin Oriental 81.8 percent (in London)
    2. Aman 80.7 percent (not in London)
    3. Bulgari 80.6 percent (in London)
    4. Oetker Collection 80.0 percent (in London)
    5. Rosewood 78.2 percent (in London)
