Meghan Markle is once again at the center of celebrity gossip after sources claimed she may be trying too hard to build a friendship with Beyoncé. According to insiders, the duchess has appeared at several events linked to the singer’s family and social circle in recent years. Those appearances have led some observers to question whether the connection is being strategically emphasized.
Beyoncé allegedly distancing herself from Meghan Markle, per source
According to a source cited by OK! Magazine, Beyoncé may be quietly creating distance between herself and Meghan Markle. The insider alleged that the singer tends to keep her personal circle very small and selective, making it difficult to form new friendships. The person claimed, “The group of people she [Beyoncé] trusts and spends time with is deliberately small.” They added, “It is not something that changes often or easily.”
The claims come as observers point to several recent public moments that appeared to connect Markle to Beyoncé’s wider circle. The “Suits” alum has reportedly attended events tied to the singer’s family, including the Fifteen Percent Pledge Gala honoring her mother, Tina Knowles.
Last year, Beyoncé’s mum also appeared as a guest on Markle’s podcast, “Confessions of a Female Founder.” According to the insider, these appearances have been noticed within the entertainment industry. “Over the last few years, there has been a noticeable pattern where Meghan has shown up at events tied to Beyoncé’s world,” the source alleged. “To many observers, it has looked like a conscious and a bit of a desperate effort to position herself closer to that circle.”
However, another source suggested Beyoncé’s approach to relationships tends to be cautious and private. “Beyoncé values relationships that evolve quietly over time,” the insider claimed. “So any sign of pressure or strategic networking can make her more cautious.”
Despite the alleged cooling of the relationship, the two women previously shared several friendly public moments. Beyoncé notably praised Markle in 2021 after the duchess and Prince Harry’s widely watched interview with Oprah Winfrey. “Thank you Meghan for your courage and leadership,” she wrote on her website.
The pair were also photographed together in 2019 at the London premiere of “The Lion King.” At the time, Beyoncé warmly greeted Markle and reportedly called her “my princess.”
Even so, insiders claim Beyoncé’s team remains highly protective of the singer’s brand and public associations. According to one source, if a connection appears “strategic” or publicity-driven, it may raise “red flags” within her inner circle.
