Celebrity wedding guru Preston Bailey helped Brooklyn and Nicola plan their 2022 nuptials, and he has now spoken about the experience following the couple’s fall-out with the Beckhams

Brooklyn Beckham‘s feud with his family exploded in spectacular fashion earlier this month when he released a blistering statement against his parents. It put his 2022 wedding back firmly in the spotlight with claims his mother Victoria not only ‘hijacked’ the first dance with bride Nicola Peltz, but then danced ‘inappropriately on him’.
His comments – in which he confirmed he does not want to reconcile with his parents – came as a surprise to many, including his former wedding planner. Top celebrity party planner Preston Bailey – who has worked with the likes of Donald and Melania Trump, Mariah Carey, Oprah Winfrey, and Michael Douglas – was hired by Brooklyn and Nicola to orchestrate their wedding in April 2021.

He ultimately had to drop out after 11 months because of his hectic work schedule. But he spent months working with the couple, helping to plan their special day. And now, as the mystery around the wedding leaves fans desperate for answers, he has spoken out.
“It surprises me that he [Brooklyn] is taking this stand against his parents,” Bailey told Page Six. “That’s not the Brooklyn I met as far as him being this nice, gentle guy. . . He was just a nice, regular person who would say hello and chit chat.
“While we were planning, clearly as far as the details for the design, he was very much involved. I have always thought of him as a gentle, decent guy. There was never any tension.” Bailey also touched upon claims that Nicola is ‘controlling’.
“I don’t remember her being bossy. I remember a lot of affection between them,” he told the publication. Explaining one aspect that Nicola stood firm on, the planner added: “Whatever design was done was presented to Nicola, but it was important for her to have Brooklyn approve it. She wasn’t going to do anything without his approval.”
Bailey worked with Brooklyn and Nicola over Zoom or in person at the Peltz’s family home in Palm Beach. He said he didn’t have contact with David or Victoria Beckham.
In February 2023, Nicola’s dad Nelson filed a lawsuit against the two other wedding planners who briefly took on the role after Bailey’s exit. Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba were brought in just six weeks before the wedding, but were let go after just nine days – with Nelson claiming he didn’t get his $159,000 deposit back.
The wedding planners filed a countersuit against the billionaire, claiming a breach of contract. They steeled their lawsuits in September 2023. “The parties believe that this contract dispute between Nelson Peltz and Plan Design should be resolved on the terms agreed,” a statement read.
“As part of the settlement, [Plan Design] will make a donation in the name of Nicola and Brooklyn to the CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund. [Plan Design] wishes Nicola and Brooklyn Peltz Beckham happiness and a fruitful life together,” Grijalba and Braghin told People in a statement. Michelle Rago eventually ended up taking on the task of planning the wedding.
It comes after the rest of the Beckham family put on a united front in Paris as Victoria was honoured with a prestigious accolade by the French Ministry of Culture. The fashion designer was named a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters on Monday night, and went on to post an emotional tribute to her family . She also recognised all her children in her address at the event in Paris – without naming them specifically.
Victoria and David have not publicly commented on Brooklyn’s allegations. “They are staying quiet because they don’t want to draw more attention to it,” a source told PEOPLE of the couple. “Though they’re stinging from their son’s strong words, David and Victoria love Brooklyn and are afraid of losing their son,” insisted another. “They would take him back in a minute.”
Brooklyn and Nicola, meanwhile, have continued to appear together frequently on social media, sharing photos from recent outings and their time spent together.
