Mexico’s Grupo Vidanta, which operates luxury timeshare resorts and two theme parks, is branching into luxury cruising with a fully refurbished vessel called VidantaWorld Voyages Elegant.
B Away Travel will be the cruise brand’s distributor of record in the UK with plans to market to the trade in future.
Elegant will offer Mediterranean itineraries between now and October 2026, and April and September 2027.
The 216-passenger vessel has been fully updated to offer a “spacious, luxury experience” across 108 suites and staterooms with a near 1:1 crew-to-guest ratio.
The ship was constructed in 1990 as Crown Monarch and originally designed to cater for 600 passengers, and last sailed as Discovery for Voyages of Discovery.
Grupo Vidanta originally planned to launch cruises in 2019 and has integrated the new offering into the Odysseus Booking Engine.
Grupo Vidanta executive vice-president Ivan Chávez said: “VidantaWorld Voyages was created to redefine what luxury at sea can be – where space is abundant, service is deeply personal, and time is treated as the ultimate luxury.
“Across the Mediterranean, our journeys are designed with more late nights and overnights, allowing guests to experience each destination at its most vibrant and most beautiful.
“Combined with an intimate onboard environment, it is a more refined, more elegant way to travel.”
