Google’s Year in Search is finally here — and now we know which people trended the most in 2025.
Year in Search highlights individuals whose searches spiked significantly over a sustained period in 2025 compared to 2024. However, this does not mean they were the most-searched people overall.

2025’s Top 10 Trending People
The No. 1 spot goes to Zohran Mamdani, who was just elected mayor of New York City, New York. The No. 2 spot goes to the accused killer of political influencer Charlie Kirk, while his widow Erika sits at No. 4. Jimmy Kimmel — who was temporarily suspended from air due to comments he made following Kirk’s death — took the last spot on the list.
Charlie Kirk was the most trending celebrity death of the year on Google, while Pope Leo XIV’s predecessor,Pope Francis, ranked seventh on the list.
Singer-songwriter d4vd (real name David Anthony Burke) sits high on the list after 14-year-old Celeste Rivas was found dead in the trunk of his car in September. The investigation is currently ongoing.
At No. 9 is Andy Byron, former CEO of the tech company Astronomer, who resigned after a viral TikTok video showed him on a “kiss cam” at a Coldplay concert with the company’s head of HR, Kristin Cabot.
Year In Search also collected data on the most-trending searches for actors, athletes, and musicians over the past year.

Bad Bunny was also the No. 1 global artist on Spotify Wrapped this year, according to data released by the streaming service on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
