These days, when thinking about some of the most popular celebrity married couples who have been together for a while, the Hail Mary star and his former co-star wife, Eva Mendes, come to mind. It’s a little surprising, given they’re rather protective of their personal life and don’t make that many appearances together.
Still, anytime they have spoken about one another, it’s usually with a lot of adoration and love, solidifying their status as a strong and happy pair. This has led fans of theirs and other film lovers who’ve kept up with their individual careers to wonder how they’ve managed what seems to be a pleasant and easygoing relationship over the years. Luckily for them, the Training Day actress actually revealed what she thinks is one of the main reasons they’re still going strong.
In a recent interview for People, Eva noted that they value their “together-time” when they’re not away from each other due to work. More specifically, they value the tradition of a classic date night and avoid skipping it whenever they can.
“Yeah, we do have date nights regularly,” she admitted.

Date night comes in a lot of different forms for most couples, from dinners to trying new things like cooking classes. However, when it comes to the Place Beyond The Pines performers, they tend to stick to their shared passion when it comes to choosing their date night activities.
“We like movies, and we like going to the movies, so we try to keep that alive,” Eva told the above publication.
The new children’s book author went on to explain that when she and the Barbie icon, who undoubtedly tends to get followed by paparazzi, are out and about, they’ve come up with ways to ensure they have as little attention on them as possible, which has helped maintain that element of mystery surrounding their relationship.
“People are usually cool,” she explained. “If you want attention, you go to certain places, and if you don’t, you know where to go. We do the latter.”
Following their rare late-night television appearance together and Eva’s social media posts supporting Ryan’s buzzing space film, we’ll be curious to see if the duo decides to let the public in a bit more over the next year or two, or if they keep things the way they are.
