Celebrity chef Guy Fieri is recovering after a leg injury on set for his upcoming series Flavor Town Food Fight.
Fieri needed emergency surgery after he slipped on steps, sending one foot forward while the other was caught, compressing his quadriceps muscle that he said “exploded.” Now, he’s using crutches and a wheelchair while recovering for eight weeks, he told Fox News in an interview this week.
“You normally tear that muscle at your tendon or the tendon tears off the bone, but this was right in the center of the whole quad muscle and it exploded,” Fieri said.
That means he won’t be able to stand on his feet to cook for Thanksgiving this year. So he’s passed on the torch to his two sons, Hunter and Ryder, as well as his nephew Jules to lead the cooking.
“Now it’s gonna be me quarterbacking from the wheelchair and telling them what to do,” he said. “And we cook for about 40 people up here. So it’s going to be, it’s got to be an adventure.”
Once the eight week recovery period ends, he’ll then have to wear a cast and rehabilitate his leg, he said.
