While Becca Bloom’s wedding looked picture perfect to her 4.5 million TikTok followers, the influencer is shedding light on the behind-the-scenes issues that occurred on her special day.
Bloom began her Sunday, September 14, TikTok by prefacing that she and husband David Pownall had “the best day of our lives” and doesn’t think her guests “even noticed” the kinks. The influencer explained that it was thunderstorming the day she and Pownall were set to say “I do,” so the couple rented out a villa the day before to take their photos.
“We spent more time with friends and family day of,” she said. “What I did crash out a little bit over was the fact that our reception had to be moved indoors into a glass marquee.”
Bloom noted that the florist had to “redesign everything” the day before the celebration, while sharing a photo of her “crashing out” while dressed in her wedding gown.
“The other thing is we had to move all the ballet dancers and violinists inside. Originally, they were supposed to be standing on these Roman columns outdoors greeting the guests,” she said, noting that the pair were not able to include paper cranes in the decor as planned due to the rain.
Bloom also shared that she “always dreamed of having an outdoor cake cutting with the fireworks,” but pivoted because of the weather. “Instead, me and David went out there alone and we just had the time of our lives dancing in the rain,” she said.
“I was a very Type B bride, and anything I did worry about no one even noticed at the end of the day,” she concluded.
Bloom and Pownall first crossed paths in 2019, before Pownall proposed four years later. The couple tied the knot at Villa Balbiano on Lake Como, Italy, on August 28.

“We had a few weekends to choose from, but a fortune teller told us this was the luckiest date,” Bloom told Vogue in a September interview. “It felt like the universe was pointing us toward that day.”
Bloom explained that her dream had always been to have an outdoor ceremony in Italy, which she called the pair’s “second home.” While it poured throughout the day of the wedding, the influencer shared that the couple took it as a positive sign.
“My parents, who are deeply rooted in feng shui, reminded me that rain is a blessing,” she said. “Both of our parents were married in rainstorms, and both have been happily married for over 35 years. We took it as a sign, even if it meant some of the florals, cocktails, and pre-planned activities had to be shifted indoors.”
When guests arrived, however, the rain stopped.
“It felt as though the skies had opened just for us,” Bloom said. “Guests stepped off the vans into perfect, room-temperature air with a faint shimmer of sunlight breaking through the clouds. As I walked down the aisle, a soft gust of wind lifted my veil as though I was being guided by something beyond us. I felt my grandfather, who passed the year I was born, and my grandmother, who could not be with us, present in that moment.”
