The Orlando Museum of Art has announced its lineup of captivating artists for the annual Florida Prize in Contemporary Art exhibition.

The exhibition brings together compelling work by progressive artists from across the Sunshine State to be put on display at OMA. This year comprises the largest selection of emerging artists the exhibition has yet seen.

The artists featured at the 2026 installment will include Maria Theresa Barbist, Rose Marie Cromwell, Jason Hackenwerth, Francisco Masó, Jessy Nite, Charo Oquet, Ema Ri and Mette Tommerup. There are also two pairs of artists: Katie Hargrave and Meredith Laura Lynn, and We Are Nice’n Easy, a pair consisting of Allison Matherly and Jeffrey Noble.

Chief curator Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon co-curated this exhibition with associate curator Katherine Page. Page aims to bring a fresh, amplified perspective to the museum.

“This year’s Florida Prize brings together an exceptional group of artists whose practices are distinct in form, yet deeply resonant in the ideas they explore,” Claeysen-Gleyzon said in a release. “Across the exhibition, we see artists engaging with language, systems of communication, coded meaning, spirituality, heritage and memory. Their works invite audiences into rich visual worlds that are both deeply personal and powerfully relatable.”

OMA creates an immersive event with workshops, performances and artist talks. There will also be a showcase of local restaurant and catering talent, in which each chef will create a dish inspired by one of the featured artists or pairs.

One artist will be awarded the $20,000 Florida Prize, chosen by this year’s juror, Jade Powers, the Hugh Kaul Curator of Contemporary Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art.

As in years past, guests can vote all summer long for the People’s Choice Award, which awards the chosen artists $2,500.

The Florida Prize exhibition will be on display at OMA from May 30 to Aug. 23. There will also be a ticketed preview from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 29.
