The CEO and general manager of The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach have returned to the island after an overseas trip in late February to accept an award on behalf of the upscale boutique hotel.
Sarah Wetenhall and Bruce Seigel said they were “honored” at the Feb. 24-27 luxury travel-related conference in Monaco when The Colony earned the Best Luxury Hotel Collaboration of the Year award.
The distinction bestowed at the three-day Forbes Travel Guide-hosted conference, called The Summit, recognizes a hotel for outstanding collaborations that improve the guest experience.
“We’re proud to collaborate with many of the world’s most exclusive brands, seamlessly weaving them into our [hotel],” said Wetenhall, who, with her husband, Andrew, purchased The Colony, 155 Hammon Ave., in 2016. “None of it would be possible without our extraordinary team.”
To enhance The Colony’s interior design, wellness programs, onsite retail-shopping opportunities and culinary offerings, the 79-year-old hotel with 93 rooms and suites has worked with multiple brands and organizations over the past decade.
Among them have been AppleTV, AERIN, Swifty’s, de Gournay, Madison Apothecary, Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s “goop,” Soul Cycle, Pop-Up Bagels, Dolce & Gabana, and Cabana magazine.
The result, The Colony’s officials told the Daily News, is that guests experience the intimacy of a boutique hotel while having access to world-recognized names in fashion, design, dining and other arenas.
Chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud of Café Boulud at The Brazilian Court received the Best In-Flight Culinary Collaboration award with Air France.
At Forbes Travel Guide’s Monaco conference, another Palm Beach-related win came when Daniel Boulud — chef-restaurateur/entrepreneur behind Palm Beach’s Café Boulud at The Brazilian Court — received the Best In-Flight Culinary Collaboration award with Air France.
The two partnered to elevate the airline’s in-flight meals and snacks.
Boulud opened Café Boulud in Palm Beach in 2003. Though he’s based in New York, where several of his restaurants and culinary ventures are located, he periodically visits Café Boulud in Palm Beach.
Forbes Travel Guide’s Summit is a by-invitation-only event where various bestowed awards range from “Travel Professional of the Year” to “Best Private Airport Experience.”
Forbes Travel Guide is known best for its annual worldwide hospitality star ratings.
The 2026 ratings, announced in February, awarded its highest honors — five stars — to the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach and its spa.
The Breakers and its spa earned four stars. The Colony received a “recommended” rating.
