Celebrity Cruises cancelled a cruise on short notice on Feb. 16, 2026 due to a technical issue onboard the Celebrity Infinity.
Starting its spring season in the Eastern Mediterranean, the ship was scheduled to offer an 11-night cruise from the Port of Piraeus in Greece.
Passengers due to board the 2001-built vessel were informed of the cancellation in the late afternoon of Feb. 15, 2026.
“During our previous voyage, the ship experienced a technical issue, and while our experts have been working diligently, we need additional time to complete necessary assessments and repairs,” Celebrity said.
“After carefully considering all options, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the February 16, 2026, sailing,” the company continued.
“We sincerely apologize for this unexpected change and the disruption this causes to your travel plans.”
Celebrity added that guests will receive a full refund of any paid portion of their cruise, which will be returned to their original form of payment.
“As a gesture of goodwill, you’ll also receive a Future Cruise Credit worth 100 percent of your cruise fare, valid for any Celebrity Cruises sailing within the next year,” the company added.
Celebrity added that guests with flights booked through Flights by Celebrity were contacted to discuss new flight options to return home.
For guests who booked their travel independently, the company said it would reimburse up to $200 per guest for domestic flights and $400 per guest for international flights to cover change fees.
“We will also reimburse up to two nights of hotel accommodations, at up to $300 per night, to support you as you make new flight arrangements,” the company added.
Celebrity also said it would offer guests a credit in the amount of $100 per guest for up to two days to help cover the cost of any incidentals.
“While we can’t give you back the time invested in your vacation, we are committed to ensuring you feel fully supported as you adjust your plans,” the company added.
The Celebrity Infinity was scheduled to offer a roundtrip cruise from Athens to destinations in Greece, Turkey and Cyprus.
Ports of call set to be visited included Nafplio, Rhodes, Katakolon, Heraklion, Limassol, Kusadasi and Antalya.
One of Celebrity’s Millennium Class vessels, the Infinity underwent a drydock refurbishment in early January.
At the time, the 2,170-guest ship spent two weeks at a shipyard in France for routine maintenance and statutory work.
In 2025, the Infinity suffered a similar technical failure caused by an electrical fire that left the ship docked in a Turkish port for four days.
