It’s safe to say that 2025 was a bumper year for celebrity proposals. Whether it was Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement announcement with its overflowing floral display of roses and lilies, or the more low-key approach favored by the likes of Zendaya and Dua Lipa (both casually revealed their rings on the red carpet), there are plenty of star-studded weddings to get excited about in 2026.
The first celebrity couple to announce they’re engaged this year? That would be musician and actor Dove Cameron, who officially shared the news of her engagement to Måneskin frontman Damiano David with an Instagram post on January 3, wishing her followers a belated Happy New Year. “My favorite part of being alive,” she wrote of her romance with David, with a diamond ring emoji accompanying it.
Of course, a perennial source of fascination for Vogue readers is the engagement ring, too—and Cameron’s choice of a maximalist, vintage-inspired ring (which some of her more eagle-eyed fans had spotted her wearing months before, sparking engagement rumors last fall) is firmly in keeping with the ring trends we’ve had our eye on over the past year or so. Featuring a distinctive elongated cushion-cut diamond as the center stone—and set in the East-West orientation that many modern brides are now favoring—it’s contemporary but still classic.
