Kardashian and Kanye West got married in a lavish ceremony in Florence, Italy. The Skims founder and the rapper spared no expense for their May 2014 wedding, including inviting 200 guests for a private rehearsal dinner at the Palace of Versailles.

As a surprise to his bride-to-be, West brought out Lana Del Rey to perform at their pre-wedding celebration at Versailles.

“It was a surprise for Kim,” Del Rey told Pitchfork in 2017. “I hadn’t met her. I sang ‘Young and Beautiful,’ ‘Summertime Sadness,’ ‘Blue Jeans.’ ”

She continued, “The girls — the Kardashians — were so nice. There was only one front row, just them, right there. They were living for it.”

The extravagance also extended to the couple’s choice in music for the actual wedding, as well.

They enlisted the help of tenor Andrea Bocelli to sing as Kardashian walked down the aisle. (Bocelli also performed at Kourtney’s wedding to Travis Barker in May 2022.)

After saying “I do,” Kardashian and West — who divorced in 2022 — had their first dance to a live performance of Legend’s song “All of Me.”

Legend surprised Chrissy Teigen at their September 2013 wedding in Lake Como, Italy, with a performance of his hit song “All of Me” at their reception.

In addition to the heartfelt serenade, Legend also enlisted the help of his friend Stevie Wonder at the post-wedding celebrations at Villa Pizzo.

Wonder sang a live rendition of “Ribbons in the Sky,” according to Brides.

One of their famous guests, Ellie Goulding, had the honor of singing a rendition of Elton John‘s hit “Your Song” for the couple’s first dance. Goulding, who is close friends with William’s cousin Princess Eugenie, took the mic later in the evening for other songs, as well.

“I mean, talking about scary … I was so nervous that my hands were shaking,” Goulding told Australian Vogue in February 2016. “That was one of my memories, I remember looking down and just seeing [my hands shaking].”

Elton was among the famous guests in attendance at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s wedding at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in May 2018.

After the formal ceremony, Elton performed at the lunchtime gathering, hosted by Queen Elizabeth. PEOPLE previously reported that Harry personally asked Elton to sing as a recognition of his connection to the royal family. (Elton was friends with the late Princess Diana and sang at her 1997 funeral.)

A guest told PEOPLE at the time that, among other songs, Elton sang his 1971 hit “Tiny Dancer” dedicated to Meghan.

“It was very, very wonderful to be there,” Elton later told CNN. “To have a black gospel choir, a multiracial bride, a black cellist, who was wonderful, a preacher — it felt like a party, and it felt like progress had been made. Thank God, thank God.”

He continued, “To be at the first multiracial royal wedding in Britain — amazing.”

Stevie Nicks at Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo’s wedding

Adam Levine ensured that his wedding to Behati Prinsloo was extra special by singing a special duet with Stevie Nicks. The Maroon 5 musician and the Victoria’s Secret Angel got married at Flora Farms in San José del Cabo, Mexico, in July 2014.

Over a decade after the nuptials took place, Levine revealed that he and Nicks sang a duet version of her 1981 ballad with Don Henley, “Leather and Lace.”

“That happened. It really happened. I think it really happened — I pinch myself sometimes,” he said on The Voice.

Timberlake wrote an original, never-released song just for his bride, Jessica Biel, when they wed in October 2012, in Italy, PEOPLE reported at the time. He sang the one-of-a-kind song while Biel walked down the aisle.

“That definitely started the tears,” she said at the time. “Not just for me either. For pretty much everyone who was there!”

Timberlake added, “I figured if there was something I was going to be able to offer, it would be to sing her down the aisle. Grown men were weeping. Hopefully it’s because I didn’t sound bad.”

Danielle Fishel and Jensen Karp had Karp’s close friend and colleague John Mayer perform at their wedding — as well as having him serve as one of Karp’s groomsmen. The Boy Meets World actress and the producer tied the knot in Los Angeles in November 2018.

“He sang our first dance song for us. He does a cover of Beyoncé’s ‘XO’ that’s to die for, and it was beautiful,” Fishel recalled in an April 2026 episode of Nicole Byer’s Why Won’t You Date Me? podcast.

In addition to serenading the couple, Mayer also broke their “no speech rule” and sang a “mini speech that he kind of wrote for Jensen at the end of the song, which was very beautiful.”

Fishel also reflected on the moment in an Instagram video of the moment and thanked Mayer for performing for them.

“His immense talent is only overshadowed by his humor, his heart, his sincerity, his loyalty, his candor, and his generous spirit,” Fishel wrote in November 2018 of Mayer. “We are beyond grateful and thrilled that he was not only a groomsman but agreed to sing our first dance song.”

She continued, “I’m obsessed with his cover of this song (XO by @beyoncé) and he played it for us live at the Forum last year simply because I told him how much I loved it. Thank you, John, for all of it.”
