It’s no secret that the ‘90s are back in style — and a few iconic Hollywood couples who got married during that decade are proving that their nuptials are still just as chic.

Although countless couples walked down the aisle from 1990 to 1999, there are a few celebrity duos that remain in the cultural zeitgeist for their weddings. From a Spice Girl wedding to an Italian union of a supermodel and a pop star, the ‘90s gave birth to some of the most iconic nuptials in recent memory.

See below for five celebrity couples who got married from 1990 to 1999 and celebrated their love in a way we still remember to this day.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have been together for over two decades, but first met in 1994 on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, when she auditioned for the role of his onscreen girlfriend, Lisa Wilkes.

The two went public with their relationship in 1995, and nearly two years later, the two tied the knot in a secret ceremony on New Year’s Eve in December 1997 in Baltimore, Maryland.

In order to keep the ceremony private and prevent leaks to the media, no invitations were sent out. Instead, guests were put up in the posh Harbor Court Hotel and the Tremont Plaza and given envelopes the morning of the ceremony with directions for their limo drivers.

“There were no jitters,” Virginia Remsberg, property coordinator for the Cloisters, told PEOPLE about the nuptials. “Everyone was just laughing and talking.”

About 100 guests gathered at the Cloisters mansion in Baltimore — taken to the venue by limo and checked in twice by security — to hear the couple read heartfelt love letters to one another before officially tying the knot.

Since getting married, Will and Jada have welcomed two kids together — Jaden, 27, and Willow, 25. Will is also dad to son Trey, 33, from a previous relationship.

Victoria and David Beckham

David Beckham and Victoria Beckham have been married for 27 years and said “I do” in an ultra-private ceremony on July 4, 1999 at Luttrellstown Castle in Dublin, Ireland.

The famous couple exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony, in front of only 29 guests. Victoria wore a Vera Wang silk pleated ballgown in a champagne hue featuring a sculptural strapless neckline and a 20-foot train, and their son Brooklyn, now 27, was their ring bearer. As Victoria and David said their “I do’s,” a dove was released, and a flag was raised above the castle that read “V. B. D.,” standing for Victoria, Brooklyn and David.

During their reception, Victoria and David changed into matching purple outfits designed by Antonio Berardi and reportedly welcomed a larger guest list of about 230 people. The pair’s guest list was packed with stars, including Victoria’s fellow Spice Girls, Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice).

Victoria and David’s close friend Elton John was there and had intended to sing at the wedding, but he had a heart attack before the affair and opted out of performing.

The couple also famously sat on matching gold thrones and shared their first dance to Frank Sinatra’s recording of “It Had to Be You.”

Only a few photos have been made public since the Spice Girl married the former professional soccer player, however, the couple have shared moments from their wedding on their social media over the years.

Alongside Brooklyn, David and Victoria went on to welcome three other kids — Romeo, 24, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 15.

Mariah Carey married music executive Tommy Mottola on June 5, 1993 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in New York City.

Carey wore a Vera Wang dress, which featured a 10-foot veil and 27-foot train, during her $500,000 wedding. Wang has widely shared that Carey was inspired by the iconic bridal gown that Princess Diana wore to her nuptials to King Charles III in 1981.

Carey even re-wore her iconic wedding dress during the music video for her song “We Belong Together.”

The guest list was star-studded and included Barbra Streisand, Michael Bolton, Bruce Springsteen, Dick Clark and Ozzy Osbourne.

Carey and Mottola divorced in 1998. The singer later married Nick Cannon in 2008 and divorced in 2016. The two share 15-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

Iman and David Bowie

Iman and David Bowie first met after the two were set up on a blind date in 1990. Only two years later, the musician proposed to the supermodel in Paris, France on the banks of the River Seine.

The couple celebrated their love with two wedding ceremonies, first tying the knot on April, 24, 1992 in a private ceremony in Lausanne, Switzerland, and later holding a larger ceremony in Italy a few months later on June 6, 1992.

For their second ceremony at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Florence, Italy, Iman wore a white halter dress with a train. Bowie wore a suit, adding a boutonniere of white flowers in his lapel.

In August 2000, Iman and Bowie went on to welcome daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones. The couple were together until Bowie’s death in January 2016.

Despite the music star’s death, Iman has kept their love alive with sentimental tributes over the years to her late husband, and has celebrated him as if he were still alive today.

“I still feel married,” Iman previously told PEOPLE in November 2021. “Someone a few years ago referred to David as my late husband, and I said, ‘No, he’s not my late husband. He’s my husband.’ Through my memory, my love lives.”

Céline Dion married René Angélil on Dec. 17, 1994 after first meeting when she auditioned for him at age 12. The two went on their first date when Dion was 19.

Dion has shared that she kept their relationship private initially because she was apprehensive about public opinion. Two years into their engagement, Dion went public with their relationship. “I was afraid of what people would think,” she told PEOPLE in 1994.

Dion and Angélil married on Dec. 17, 1994 in an extravagant ceremony at Montréal’s Notre-Dame Basilica. The wedding was broadcasted live on television in Canada, where viewers watched Dion walk down the aisle in a silk Mirella and Steve Gentile gown covered in crystal embellishments. She accessorized with a now-iconic headpiece that was made of Swarovski crystals.

Dion and Angélil went on to welcome three sons together — René-Charles, 25, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 15 — before Angélil’s death in 2016 from throat cancer.
