Zambezi Cruise & Safaris has added a luxury ship on the Zambezi River.
The cruise and safari operator said the debut of the Zambezi Trader marks “a new era of river tourism” in Zimbabwe. The 66-passenger ship operates safari-style cruises of two to four nights from Msuna Island into Lake Kariba.
“We are proud to launch The Zambezi Trader as a new standard of excellence for Zimbabwean tourism,” said general manager of sales and marketing Gavin Rennie. “This vessel opens up the Zambezi River in a way that’s never been done before.”
The Zambezi Trader has 29 cabins with private balconies, air conditioning and mosquito nets.
The company will operate excursions on smaller boats, bringing guests to bays and tributaries of the river. The itinerary includes game drives, birdwatching, catch-and-release fishing and visiting local villages, including a tour of the Tongan Village.
Bookings are open for cruises in January and beyond. Prices start at $325 per person, per night.
