Tom Götter is just back from Iceland, where he was aboard the Scenic Eclipse. “We were in the middle of nowhere with no other vessel on the horizon, when we saw a fishing boat,” he says. “So we got up close and asked if they had any fish.”
The answer was yes, so Götter and his chefs fitted themselves up with safety lines and boarded the boat to take a look. The fish was so good they bought all 600 kilograms of cod, haddock, redfish and ling. “Bigger ships could never do this,” says Götter. “They couldn’t even manoeuvre next to a fishing boat, and they certainly wouldn’t be flexible enough to put the entire catch on the menu.”
