The Princess of Wales is embracing autumn fashion with aplomb. Just last week she was spotted wearing the season’s trending shoe style and today has stepped out in the dress trend that dominated the AW25 shows.
Catherine, who was with Prince William in Sunningdale, Windsor, wore a dress by one of her favourite designers, Alessandra Rich, which came complete with a large collar and pearl and diamanté buttons. Though new for the Princess, the style is from a previous season and sadly sold out. However, its tartan fabrication is big news for the season ahead meaning there’s much to take in.

Sure, tartan or a plaid of any description worn in the winter months is certainly not breaking fashion news but the cadence with which it appeared on the catwalks chosen by designers from Louis Vuitton to Burberry places it as a key trend for the season ahead. While Catherine chose to wear her dress with grey pointed pumps by Boss for a bright September day, the catwalk decree invites wearers to take it two ways: prim or punk.

September 8 marks three years since the death of Queen Elizabeth, and so Catherine’s choice of a black and white palette feels fitting for the notable date. Catherine and William’s visit to Sunningdale involved attending a memorial event for the late monarch who is buried close by.
