Paulina Porizkova is embracing aging.
The Czech-born supermodel, who recently turned 60, shared a pair of candid photos on Instagram on Jul. 28, contrasting a glamorous, posed vacation shot with a raw, un-retouched photo of herself at home.
“This is me. Vacation, pretty light, posing for a shot,” she said of her first photo.
“This is also me. Home, not great light, not posing,” she said of the second image.
The former “America’s Next Top Model” judge explained that these photos both reflect who she is.
“This is 60. This is 60 years of sometimes healthy eating, sometimes not. 60 years of sometimes working out, sometimes not. 60 years of doing the right things followed by doing the wrong things and over again and again. It’s 60 years of learning of what works and what doesn’t. And just as I think I’ve figured it out, everything changes and I have to start again.”
She concluded her post with a piece of wisdom she’s gained: “The beauty of 60 is that now I understand the importance is IN the lesson, not passing the exam.”
This isn’t the first time Porizkova has spoken openly about embracing aging. Leading up to her milestone birthday in April, she appeared on the “Today” show in January, where she said, “I have never been more thrilled about a birthday in my life.”
She also spoke on wrinkles and how women are “so scared” of getting them.
“And I keep looking at wrinkles — mine, yours, any woman that I see — and I think, ‘It’s your map of life. I see how you are as a person. Why would you want to erase it?’”
Porizkova rose to fame in the 1980s after becoming the first Central European woman to appear on the cover of “Sports Illustrated”’s swimsuit issue in 1984. She’s modeled for Chanel, Christian Dior, Hermes, and Versace. Last month, she got engaged to writer Jeff Greenstein. She was previously married to the Cars frontman Ric Ocasek.
