“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., has been released from Salt Lake County Metro Jail after serving two months behind bars, Page Six can reveal.
Robert Jr.’s attorney, Clayton Simms, exclusively tells us his client was released on Tuesday and that he considers his time in jail to be “a blessing.”
“It allowed him to sober up and start thinking clearly. He’s looking forward to doing positive things. The difficulty is that he was slow to recognize the dissolution of his marriage. But now he understands the relationship is over, and he’s moving forward,” Simms said.
As part of his release, Robert Jr., 23, was sentenced to 24 months of probation, during which he must complete 75 hours of community service as well as anger management and substance abuse classes.
The judge overseeing the case also granted a permanent no-contact order for Robert Jr.’s former wife, Alexiana Smokoff, who filed for divorce on Nov. 24, 2025, after three years of marriage.
Robert Jr., who has publicly struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, was arrested on Nov. 9, 2025, after going to Smokoff’s family home and violating a pretrial protective order.
On Nov. 25, 2025 — one day after Smokoff filed for divorce — Robert Jr. pleaded guilty to eight of the 14 charges he was facing: one count of felony property damage or destruction greater than or equal to $5,000; two counts of violation of a pretrial protective order obtained by Smokoff; one count of assault on a peace officer; one count of violation of a jail release court order; two counts of criminal trespass on a dwelling with intent to cause annoyance, injury or fear (all class A misdemeanors); and one count of class B misdemeanor assault.
The other six misdemeanor charges were dismissed with prejudice.
At the time, Robert Jr.’s attorney told People that his client’s legal woes stemmed from him having trouble “understanding and recognizing” that his marriage to Smokoff was over, as he views the institution as “sacred and forever.”
“His parents [are] his example, and they’ve been married for 27 years,” Simms said, referencing Mary’s marriage to Robert Cosby Sr., who serves as a bishop at the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church.
Simms made sure to add, “Robert has accepted responsibility for his mistakes and has pleaded guilty to several misdemeanors.”
Prior to his November arrest, Robert Jr. was arrested in September 2025 after allegedly attempting to break into Smokoff’s family’s home through a dog door, attacking her father on the front lawn and biting a responding officer’s hand, which led to the use of a taser to get him under control.
In 2022, Robert Jr. was arrested for driving under the influence, to which he pleaded guilty.
