Dr Paul Johnson received the Best Niche Voice in Travel award at the TBEX Summit in Wichita, Kansas.
The award marks the 20th anniversary of his Kendal-based A Luxury Travel Blog, which has become a leader in luxury travel content since its launch in 2005.

Dr Johnson said: “Winning this award in the US, especially as we mark 20 years of the blog, is a proud moment.
“When I started the site in 2005 from my home in Kendal, the landscape of travel media was completely different.
“To still be at the forefront of the industry two decades later—and to bring this recognition home to South Cumbria—is incredibly rewarding.”

The TBEX Summit is a major international event that gathers the world’s top travel media professionals.
In addition to winning the award, Dr Johnson was shortlisted for the Best Travel Blog title at the summit.
His blog has previously received multiple accolades, including Best Travel Blog at the Travelmole Web Awards and Best Travel Influencer by Wired Magazine.
The Telegraph has also described A Luxury Travel Blog as “one of the world’s best travel blogs” and “best for luxury.”

Over 20 years, he has stayed ahead of industry trends, outlasting many traditional publications to remain a trusted independent voice in travel media.
His work has been featured by major outlets including the BBC, CNN Travel, New York Times, and The Telegraph.
Despite the blog’s international reach, Dr Johnson continues to run the site from his base in South Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District.
His work has taken him across the globe, working with airlines, luxury hotels and resorts, tourist boards, and the automotive industry.
Recent travels have included bobsledding in Austria, swimming with penguins in the US, running a half marathon in Turkey and sailing a 46-ft yacht around the Greek islands.
He has also spoken at major industry events such as the World Travel Market in London and the MALT Congress in Abu Dhabi.
