American Eagle CEO Jay Schottenstein is hoping that now is a better time to offload a piece of prime South Florida real estate.
The businessman has just relisted his Key Biscayne penthouse about a year after trying to sell it the first time around. According to property records, he’s pulled the $33.9 million spread off the market twice since listing it in late November 2024. It’s now offered with Julian Johnston of Corcoran, after last being taken down in July. The price, though, has remained the same since a year ago, with Schottenstein perhaps banking on increased demand for multimillion-dollar penthouses in the Sunshine State over the winter season.

Schottenstein’s pad was originally two separate units, which he and his wife spent five years converting into a 13,630-square-foot abode. They worked with the star designer Geoffrey Bradfield to create a sleek, beachy home filled with art and about 100 feet of beachfront to gaze at through the windows.
Wood-paneled ceilings crown many of the living spaces, while marble walls and brick columns create a sense of privacy among the rooms. The massive dining room can comfortably seat 18 guests for formal dinners, and the family room is accompanied by a more casual bar area where you can whip up a tropical drink and take in the water views. The four bedrooms each have their own bathroom, and the two powder rooms include striking details like a mosaic seascape and textured golden artwork.

Other highlights include a stately office and spacious closets with plenty of space for just about any fashionista. While there’s still ample room for lounge chairs and dining tables, some of the 3,000 square feet of terrace space has been used to house fitness equipment, so you can focus on the view rather than on how tired your muscles are getting while working out. You also get five parking spaces and five large private storage cages.
A member of one of Ohio’s richest families, Schottenstein oversees a suite of retail clothing brands, American Eagle, Aerie, Todd Snyder, and more. He’s served as CEO of the group since 2014, following a previous stint from 1992 to 2002. While he’s offloading his Key Biscayne penthouse, he also owns a couple other homes in the Miami area, plus a mansion in Columbus, Ohio, where he grew up.
