HIGH POINT — The High Point Museum is accepting applications for a summer intern to work on archival collections with museum staff.
The internship is open to graduate and undergraduate students interested in museum collections management. The intern will gain hands-on experience in processing, cataloging and digitizing archival materials.
The intern will assist the museum registrar with processing backlogged and recently donated archival collections by organizing, rehousing, digitizing, doing historical research and cataloging using PastPerfect Museum Software, with the goal of improving collections access for staff and the general public. The intern may work with local business records, family archives, school records, scrapbooks, newsletters and photograph collections from the late 19th through the late 20th century.
The 160-hour internship is available for those seeking class credit. It must be completed between May 15 and Sept. 1, and the intern will be paid a stipend of $2,400.
The application deadline is Feb. 22. To apply, email a cover letter, resume and two letters of reference to corinne.midgett@highpointnc.gov. Questions may be directed to the same address.
