Fans of Celebrity Traitors have declared the latest instalment as the ‘best episode ever’ after the series had a major first in the format that has left viewers on edge
Fans of Celebrity Traitors have declared the latest instalment as the ‘best episode ever’ after the series had a major first. The hit BBC show had viewers hooked last night as famous faces like Kate Garraway, Lucy Beaumont and Stephen Fry amongst a host of others continued their stay in the Scottish castle.
When singer and Faithful Charlotte Church was ‘murdered’ by the three Traitors – Cat Burns, Jonathan Ross and Alan Carr – the group were then tasked with sniffing out a Traitor at the next roundtable, in what was called one of the best ‘one for the ages.’ Rugby star Joe Marler accused Mark Bonnar of having Traitor status, and he eventually received the same amount of votes as David Olusoga.
Host Claudia Winkleman then told the players they would have to vote again, and, yet again, David and Mark received five votes each. The move left everyone in shock, and Claudia told them this was a one-of-a-kind scenario that would see the two players go head-to-head in a ‘game of chance’ to decide their fate before walking away and ending the episode on a huge cliffhanger.

Viewers instantly rushed to social media to voice their opinions, with one user writing: “Not Mark and David having to plea when they are both faithfuls, the traitors deserve the win at this point #CelebrityTraitors.”
A second said: “The banishment by fate twist has always been in the rules but I never thought we’d ever see it in action. Absolute cinema. #CelebrityTraitors.” Another said: “Probably one of the best episodes of traitors I’ve ever seen, can’t wait for tomorrow :joy: #Traitors #CelebrityTraitors!”
Some fans were even concerned about how they will continue to go about their daily lives before the next episode airs, with one user writing in panic: “HOW WILL ANY OF US EAT SLEEP OR WORK BEFORE TOMORROW 9PM? #CelebrityTraitors.”
Predicting what this will mean for the show, another fan said: “The crashout next episode when they realise they’ve banished yet another faithful is going to be one for the ages #CelebrityTraitors”.
While at the roundtable, David and Mark were tasked with making one final plea to their fellow Faithful to convince them they were not Traitors. David said: “My plea is very simple. We decided we’d play the game differently, and that’s what I’ve done. And that’s been misinterpreted by Joe Wilkinson as some sort of stealth tactic.
“By trying to get us to think more deeply. I’ve got four votes. So why would I have done that? When quite clearly, as you can see from the votes, the momentum was against Mark. This was not the night if I were a traitor to put my head above the parapet.”
Mark said: “I love this game. I don’t think there was ever anything wrong with pointing out that I never wanted to be a traitor. I don’t think there was anything wrong with as me being frustrated that we got a fourth faithful in a role. I play this game with all my heart and what you see is what you get. I’m not putting on an act. I came here yes to win, but to win as a faithful and that’s what I am.”
The first episode of The Celebrity Traitors has been watched by more than 11.7 million viewers and the series is a huge hit. The corporation said this makes the series debut the biggest unscripted episode across the UK market since 2022, not including special events such as New Year’s Eve fireworks and the Coronation.
The series is set to conclude on Thursday November 6 at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer, when fans will be treated to a 70-minute episode.
