The year 2025 was a challenging one for some of Nigeria’s ‘celebrity couples’ as several such high-profile marriages hit the rocks.
The industry witnessed some of its most dramatic marriage crises, DAILY POST reports.
Celebrity couples that divorced in 2025 include music superstar, Tuface Idibia and his wife Annie.
Besides those that have officially divorced, some other celebrity marriages are shaky, and are rumored to have broken down.
One of such marriages is that of Nollywood stars, Frederick Leonard and Peggy Ovire.
DAILY POST takes a retrospective look at some of the high-profile marriage crises in 2025.
Music legend 2face and Actress Annie Macaulay Idibia
The year started off as a shock when music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2face announced the end of his 12 years marriage with popular Nigerian actress, Annie Macaulay Idibia.
The duo got married in 2012 and separated on January 26, 2025.
The couple had faced a series of public challenges, as well as accusations of infidelity over their long relationship.
The divorce announcement was made by 2face via his instagram handle.
Just a few days after announcing the split, music legend, 2face introduced his new partner, Nastasha Osawaru, to the public.
Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels and Senator Ned Nwoko
Actress Regina Daniels and Senator Ned Nwoko got married in a traditional ceremony in May 2019 in Delta State, Nigeria.
Despite criticism at the early stage of their marriage, Regina Daniels affirmed her commitment to the marriage, expressing her love for the much older senator.
Allegations and rumours surfaced in February 2025 that Regina’s Nollywood colleague, Chika Ike, was pregnant with Nwoko’s child.
However, both parties denied the allegations.
In October 2025, Regina and Ned Nwoko’s marriage reached its breaking point after Regina released a viral video accusing Ned Nwoko of domestic violence.
Regina’s family brother, Sammy, came to her aid, warning the senator to staff off his sister. This led to Sammy’s arrest and remand in prison. He was eventually released on bail.
On November 9, 2025, Regina in a series of posts via her Instagram handle, addressed accusations laid on her by her husband, Ned concerning the use of drugs and it being the cause of their marital crisis.
Regina accused the senator of isolating her from her children, lamenting certain sacrifices both personal and professional she made while in the marriage. She went ahead to state that although they had a traditional ceremony, the marriage was never legalized in a court of law.
Senator Nwoko dismissed all of Regina’s allegations. In a strongly worded statement issued through his office, Nwoko, who claimed he has been sponsoring Regina Daniel’s brother and mother, further alleged that Regina’s drug use was influenced by those around her, including her brother, Sammy.
Although the status of their relationship remains unclear, one thing is certain – both parties are standing firm on their claims.
Sabinus and Ciana Chapman
Popular Nigerian comedian, Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, popularly known as Sabinus, confirmed the end of his marriage to Ciana Chapman in December 2025 during a TikTok livestream.
The couple got married in a private wedding in 2023.
According to speculations, the split was due to infidelity, lack of financial support and many more issues, although the comedian stated that he and his former wife are good as they are prioritizing the well-being of their daughter.
The real reason for the couple’s split is yet to be determined.
Actress Anita Joseph and MC Fish
Popular Nigerian actress, Anita Joseph, on December 22, 2025, confirmed the end of her marriage with popular hypeman, Fisayo Olagunju, well known as MC Fish.
The couple got married in 2020.
Rumours attribute their separation to issues surrounding financial and professional contributions.
It was speculated that the hypeman, MC Fish, depended solely on the finances of the actress.
However, taking to his Instagram story, MC Fish denied the claims. He also alleged that Actress Anita Joseph, his ex-wife, had initiated their relationship.
Although both couples are divorced, the back and forth continues.
Frederick Leonard and Peggy Ovire
Famous Nollywood actress, Peggy Ovire, has finally spoken out amid rumours of divorce from husband, actor Frederick Leonard.
Speculations of a crisis in the Nollywood couple’s marriage started in 2024, after Ovire shared a solo Christmas photo in pajamas. After that, it was reported that Ovire shared a video of her dressing for a wedding ceremony, without her wedding band.
Latest reports indicate that Ovire has deleted the name of her husband, Frederick Leonard, from her Instagram bio.
As of the time of this report, none of the couple has officially debunked the reported separation.
But since the speculations started some months ago, the celebrity couple, who got married in 2022, have not appeared together in any public function. Also, they have not celebrated each other’s birthday.
