Luxury travel is taking a moment for self-care.

Across the globe, hotels are offering experiences that immerse guests in restoration and renewal. The focus on wellness travel includes hotels and resorts that are competing in the wellness category, offering daily fitness regimens, longevity and energy programs, extensive luxury skincare and anti-aging supplements. Research forecasts that by 2030, wellness travel will become a $900 billion industry. According to Virtuoso’s annual Luxe Report, influence from film and television shows like “The White Lotus” is catalyzing the trend.

However it arrived, the moment finds luxury hotels around the world competing for best-in-class status via their wellness programming. In the luxury travel landscape, the sovereignty-over-self philosophy is here. These 12 hotels allow luxury travelers to claim it.

The Marylebone London

The specialized wellness package at The Marylebone London with Rebase, a London-based performance recovery studio, is for guests who benefit from high-octane performance training and recovery. With the “Suite Health” package, guests stay in a luxurious Marylebone suite while utilizing Rebase. The package includes overnight accommodation for two guests, a 45-minute Rebase Infrared Sauna Suite session with ice baths, a 60-minute deep tissue massage or credit and a recovery kit. Inside the suite, there’s a wellness box with do-good potions like Vitamin C supplements, electrolytes and Ketone. Additional post-workout drinks include immune function, digestion, bone health, and hydration elixirs to enjoy. The hotel has a 60-foot swimming pool and access to Third Space, an exclusive members-only health club with expert trainers and fitness classes.

Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia

In January, this downtown property unveiled what is essentially a “wellness floor.” The 45th-floor Sky Garden features four private terraces with spacious kitchens, pantries, and bespoke dishware, alongside an art installation and—most importantly—an exclusive spa treatment room. Billed as “an immersive environment dedicated to restoration and renewal,” visitors to the Sky Garden spa will find advanced wellness technologies, including a PEMF mat, red light therapy, and an infrared sauna blanket. Those staying in the two-bedroom Sky Terrace Penthouse Suite can enjoy a private studio equipped with a Peloton bike, Echelon Reflect Fitness Mirror, and a Technogym Home workout bench. All guests can enjoy the Four Seasons’ Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Spa on the 57th floor, where an infinity pool overlooks the Philadelphia skyline.

La Réserve Genève

La Réserve Genève has been at the forefront of longevity wellness for more than 20 years. The Spa Nescens program was developed by Professor Jacques Proust, a pioneer in anti-aging medicine. Guests who participate in the signature Nescens Retreats receive a thorough medical evaluation and, with the help of a team of professionals, gain a better understanding of their genetic, medical, dietary, and psychological profiles. The spa also offers pulse therapy: pulsed electromagnetic waves delivered through high-tech boots. The hotel claims that this boosts the cardiovascular system, shapes the silhouette, and aids in post-training recovery. Plus: The new Women’s Better Aging Journey is designed to promote cellular and metabolic regeneration. The 4- and 6-day programs include blood tests, medical consultations, targeted treatments, fitness coaching, and nutritious meals.

L’Auberge De Sedona, Arizona

The geology and mythology of Sedona, Arizona, are believed by locals, healers and spiritual seekers to stem from the “vortexes” of energy that emanate from Sedona’s rock formations, known to have positive effects on the body, mind and spirit. L’Auberge de Sedona—nestled along the banks of Oak Creek beneath the red rocks—anchors this experience for guests who stay in the creekside cottages and renovated Cliffs rooms. The treatments through the L’Apothecary Spa at L’Auberge de Sedona include floating sound healing, forest bathing, and the popular Creekside Vortex Ritual, a guided meditation-meets-bodywork experience. The gentle massage, light energy work, and breathwork are just part of the experience that gently unfolds creekside with the sound of rushing water and dappled light through the sycamore trees. The resort is the star in this theatre of spirituality and is said to be one of the most cinematic settings in Sedona.

Euphoria Retreat, Mystras, Peloponnese

Set in a UNESCO heritage landscape that’s been a place of healing for millennia, Euphoria Retreat in Mystras, Peloponnese, is a holistic wellbeing destination spa hotel that blends cutting-edge science with ancient Greek wisdom. Its acclaimed “Transformational Leadership Retreats” showcase how founder Marina Efraimoglou has pioneered a new approach for women leaders, creating a four-day program rooted in yin (female) energies—like intuitive, empathetic and nurturing forces that modern leadership often leaves behind. The annual Wellbeing Festival (June 19-28) will bring together an impressive roster of wellness visionaries for immersive workshops, wellness sessions and healing practices.

Anthology of Athens – Athens, Greece

Not all Grecian wellness philosophies and traditions have endured into the 21st century, but the land that birthed them did. Its Balaneion Spa has expected indulgences: steam room, massage room, a serene relaxation area and a full suite of spa services. What sets Anthology of Athens apart is an intellectual approach to the philosophy of wellness, found in the lobby library and a curated lecture series featuring scientists, educators, and subject-matter experts, exploring topics such as Greek philosophy, botany in ancient and modern Greece, mythology, literature, and rituals of ancient spas.

Inside the hotel, book a fitness suite with myriad equipment, including a cross-trainer, bike, jogger, chest press, weights and a lap pull-down. Their staff uses skin care products from the Valmont line, whose proprietary DNA/RNA cellular technology is backed by research. The Valmont brand traces its story to 1905, when a namesake clinic was established on the shores of Lake Geneva near Montreux, Switzerland as a health and wellness retreat for Europe’s elite. La Serra also offers private, one-on-one training sessions with a qualified personal trainer. Added up, the wellness offerings combine the best of old and new within a 190-year-old, family-owned-and-operated hotel.

The package includes an Island Dreams treatment, a Crystal Vitality Facial treatment; three gourmet meals; a beverage package with premium wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic options; and in-room mini bar, picnic hampers, use of non-motorized water sports and motorized dinghies. ARIA Resort And Casino Hotel, Las Vegas

The ARIA Resort & Casino’s dreamy suites in ARIA Spa & Salon are coccoons of immersive wellness with elemental designs around water, earth and rose quartz. The suites have jacuzzis and steam showers for tailored rituals to pamper and restore. They’re also expansive, with living areas large enough to share, entertain or celebrate a milestone. The soft hues of pink against the beds of finely crushed rose quartz in the Rose Quartz Dream Suite make sense of the full body massage with Himalayan salt stones. Add in the rose quartz face mask, obviously. The Ocean Dream Suite is a destination of water for a 90-minute Ocean Dream Massage on a warmed water bed. Relaxing according to the elements makes sense in the Desert Healing Escape Suite with its soothing earth tones and organic textures. The 90-minute Desert Healing Escape Massage incorporates CBD body butter, a detoxifying scalp treatment and a gold face mask. Tag on a red light therapy treatment—a 20-minute, non-invasive skincare treatment and works beneath the skin’s surface to add skin vitality at a cellular level—before or after a suite stay and the whole experience is both sensual and scientific.

A warm vitality pool is surrounded by daybeds and rare plants from around the world, while the spa menu of massages and facials are customizable. The highlight is the wellness programming. A guided four-night (April 30 to May 3) holistic detox + reset retreat is designed to improve nutrition, lymphatic activation, circulation, promote detoxification and regulate the nervous system. Added together, it’s a robust slate of wellness offerings, a hidden surprise in the urban setting of Portland’s Alberta Arts District.
