Art lovers are invited to comprehend the changing directions of Thai contemporary art during “Transverse: Navigating Emerging Thai Art”, which is running at Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok’s Art Space by Moca Bangkok, until Sept 27.
This is a group exhibition by 17 Thai artists working across different generations, visual languages and ways of thinking. Their works move through different artistic languages — from reflections on local experience and cultural traces to personal narratives, digital sensibilities and contemporary anxieties.
Together, they offer a focused view of artists working within a cultural landscape that is constantly being redefined.
The show opens up contemporary Thai art as a field of multiple perspectives. The participating artists do not offer a single definition of Thainess. Instead, they show how identity, memory and artistic language can be reassembled through different materials, gestures and modes of expression.
Some works return to fragments of tradition and place, while others respond to the image of the world, social conditions and emotional atmosphere of contemporary life. Seen together, the exhibition becomes a cross-section of Thai contemporary art in motion.
Viewers will witness the emerging trajectories of Thai art as it continues to find new forms of expression, intersecting with the energy of a younger generation and the broader conversations of the global contemporary art landscape.
The art space is on LM floor of Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, Charoen Krung Road. There is no admission fee.
