All Of The Celebrity Couples Who Shockingly (Or Not So Shockingly) Broke Up In 2025

Every year, there are a handful of celebrity breakups that feel like something of a personal loss (or, for certain couples, a long time coming) once they are announced to the public. In 2024, this came in the form of couples including Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan, and Cardi B and Offset, to name a few.

2025 was no different, as we saw quite the mixed bag when it came to famous couple splits this year. While some were devastating (Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s separation is a notable highlight), others seemed like they were for the best, to say the least — but we’ll let you decide that for yourselves. Here are all the celebrity couples who decided to part ways in 2025:

After 18 years of marriage, Nicole officially filed for divorce from Keith in September 2025, although it had been reported that the two had been living separately for several months prior. Even still, Nicole had “been fighting to save the marriage,” a source told People. The two have since agreed to a parenting plan for their daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, which names Nicole as the primary residential parent and does not include spousal or child support payments.

The split was cited as due to “irreconcilable differences,” but their official parenting plan states: “They will not speak badly of each other or the members of the family of the other parent. They will encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families,” according to E! News.

After four years of marriage, the singer and Stranger Things star’s split was confirmed in February 2025, although rumors of their breakup had started circulating back in December 2024, when a profile for Lily was spotted on the dating app Raya.

Lily’s newest album, West End Girl, released in October 2025, reveals more of the story behind their doomed relationship as she alludes to having an open marriage and sings about a woman named “Madeline” who she suspects slept with her partner.

A representative of Ballerini’s confirmed the couple’s breakup on September 14, 2025, following three years of dating. Sources who were close to the couple at the time told People: “They’re two adults who gave it their all and tried to do everything they could to make it work, but ultimately couldn’t. It happens.”

However, the two were then spotted holding hands at dinner in Croatia on November 7, 2025, and a source told People that “After they got up, they walked together hand in hand towards Old Town.” Following this, though, Chase posted an Instagram story on November 20, 2025, in which he wrote, “Don’t believe the media. I’m blocked, I did nothing wrong. Sorry ❤️ I tried.”

It was announced that The Vampire Diaries star and former Olympic snowboarder and professional skateboarder ended their five-year-long relationship in September 2025, less than a year after getting engaged in October 2024. A source close to the couple said that the breakup was a “mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another.” Neither of the two has directly addressed the breakup, but fan theories about the reason behind the breakup started spreading following a TikTok video Nina posted on September 5, 2025.

5. Jacob Elordi and Olivia Jade Giannulli

Having been in an on-again, off-again relationship for four years, Jacob and Olivia Jade reportedly split for good in October 2025. They initially broke up in August 2025, then reportedly got back together briefly in September. This was also around the time of Olivia’s mother’s divorce from Mossimo Giannulli (more on that below), and a source told People that she was more upset about what was going on there than her own breakup at the time.

After having an on-and-off relationship since 2017, the Materialists actor and Coldplay frontman reportedly called things off for good in June 2025. A source told People, “It feels final this time.” Although neither the former couple nor their representatives has publicly commented on the split, a source said that Dakota was holding up well after the news broke. The same source said that “the split wasn’t exactly a shock,” and the couple’s relationship “had the same issues for a while.”

After seven years of dating, the couple ended their engagement around March 2025. Sydney confirmed their split in an interview with The Times on May 31, 2025, saying she was single and no longer planning a wedding. “She didn’t feel right about it,” an insider told People, suggesting that Sydney was “not ready to settle down” and was “overwhelmed” by the idea of their wedding. “They only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off. They didn’t split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now.”

A source later told People that their relationship had been rocky for a while, but that “she’s exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She’s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects.”

A few months later later, news broke that Sydney was reportedly dating record executive Scooter Braun in September 2025.

Rumors of Kaia and Austin’s split were first reported by TMZ near the end of 2024. However, the news was made public in January 2025 when a source confirmed to People that the couple were going their separate ways, after more than three years of dating.

The Hot Mess podcast host and NFL player broke up in December 2025, after dating for over two years. Their split followed Alix moving into Braxton’s house in Miami, Florida, in April and appearing on the 34th season of Dancing With the Stars in September. Multiple sources told People that the split was mutual, though.

The couple broke up in April 2025, following JoJo’s appearance on Celebrity Big Brother UK. JoJo, who uses they/them pronouns, ended things with Kath at the Celebrity Big Brother UK wrap party, reportedly due in part to JoJo’s growing on-screen connection with co-star Chris Hughes. However, JoJo has stated in interviews that the breakup was actually due to realizing that they were unhappy in several areas of their life through their participation in the show. When Kath “straight-up asked” if they were happy at the wrap party, they said no, which led to the breakup.

The Abbott Elementary star filed for divorce on March 19, 2025, after dating Kevin for around three years and marrying in October 2021. They reached a settlement on September 22, 2025, agreeing to an uncontested divorce, according to People. In June, Quinta addressed her divorce for the first time publicly, telling Bustle, “I remember seeing people be like, ‘She announced her divorce. I didn’t announce anything. I think people have this idea that people in the public eye want the public to know their every move. None of us do. I promise you.”

Amy announced her split from the chef via her Instagram on December 12, 2025, following seven years of marriage. She included a photo of the two sitting together on the New York City subway, paired with a caption that read, “Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time. blah blah blah not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basket ball player and not because he’s a hot James beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”

13. Simone Ashley and Constantin ‘Tino’ Klein

Simone subtly confirmed the couple’s split on February 28, 2025, during an interview on BBC’s Woman’s Hour, after the pair had dated for around two years. The Bridgerton star stated, “It’s kind of ironic I’m promoting a rom-com, and as of January this year, I’ve been entering my single era.” She continued to explain how she was focusing on herself and her work, saying, “It feels like a different chapter from when Bridgerton came out, where things were just so crazy.”

The two separated in October 2025, following almost 28 years of marriage. Elizabeth Much (a representative of Lori) stated to People that, “they are living apart and taking a break from their marriage. There are no legal proceedings at this time.” This came years after both Lori and Mossimo were sentenced to months in federal prison following the “Varsity Blues” college admissions scandal, which involved their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose, in 2019.

The actors reportedly broke up in April 2025, after dating for around two years. Despite a few public appearances, the former couple kept their relationship relatively private, but the split was reportedly amicable and drama-free.

Naomi announced the breakup via her Instagram story on January 6, 2025, stating, “Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship. No bad blood at all, he’s a great person, and an awesome dad. Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experience together. ♥️”. After six years together, the professional tennis star and rapper have a daughter, Shai, whom they are continuing to co-parent together.

17. Dwight Howard and Amy Luciani

Amy filed for divorce from the former professional basketball player in July 2025, following about six months of marriage. She cited the marriage as “irretrievably broken” with “no prospects for reconciliation,” according to People. After rumors spread that Amy was seeking half of Dwight’s assets, she defended herself via Instagram story on July 9, 2025, stating, “With such a private moment like a marriage ending. I really do want to keep a lot private, but it’s hard to watch this narrative spreading quickly about me. I told him I want to sign a prenupt (sic) because I believe what you worked for is yours, and I’m not the type of woman to take what’s not mine.” She continued, “Believe it or not, some of us women really date/marry for love.”

18. Benson Boone and Maggie Thurmon

The couple’s breakup was confirmed by Maggie through a since-deleted TikTok video she posted in October 2025, according to People. Their split came after over a year of dating, and fans noticed Benson and Maggie had unfollowed each other on Instagram. In one of Maggie’s Instagram posts from September 29, 2025, she stated, “Something happened, and I am now touching grass at my parents’ house in Georgia.” The “Beautiful Things” singer also gave an emotional speech during his concert in Nashville on September 9, 2025, saying, “Sometimes people leave your life. Whether it’s the right thing or the wrong thing. And it is always hard — always, every single time.”

The couple who met on Love Island USA Season 6 split in July 2025, after being together for one year. JaNa shared a statement on her Instagram story on July 29, 2025, stating, “Hi my loves. Thank you for all your love & support. It means the world to me. As you know, Kenny and I no longer together. Please know that I have seen all the breakup theories and none have matched up to how terrible, disgusting and disappointing it truly is. Discovering that someone you loved isn’t who you thought they were and that the relationship you thought you were building hasn’t been genuine since day one has been truly devastating.”

In response to JaNa’s post, Kenny posted on his Instagram story, stating, “Breakups are never easy, especially in the public eye,” he wrote. “Sometimes, despite how deeply you care for someone, you come to the hard truth that the relationship was not something that could last long-term. I’ll always be grateful for the time we shared and the memories we created. I release this chapter with no ill will, only a hope that JaNa’s path forward brings her nothing but happiness.”

Following 16 years of marriage, Jessica filed for divorce on February 7, 2025, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to People. Back on January 16, 2025, Jessica shared a statement on Instagram that read, “I’ve been on a journey of self-realization and transformation for years — both as an individual and in partnership with Cash. I’m proud of how we’ve grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years, and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.

The actress and film producer have three kids together — Honor, Haven, and Hayes. Jessica filed for joint custody, and as she stated in the rest of her Instagram post, “We are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority, and we request privacy at this time.”

After 21 years of marriage, the Party of Five alum and former reality TV personality announced their split in June 2025. People reported that Kelley shared a since-removed Instagram post on June 10, accompanied by a caption in which she stated, “It is with a heavy heart that Scott and I are moving forward with the dissolution of our marriage.”

Scott told People that filing for divorce was “the most difficult decision of his life,” and stated that “Our children have always been, and continue to be, the loves of our lives and our every priority, so I kindly ask for privacy at this time as we help guide them through this new chapter.”

22. Benito Skinner and Terrence O’Connor

The Overcompensating star announced that the two were no longer together in an episode of his podcast, RIDE, on October 22, 2025. This split came after nine years of dating, though Benito also stated in the episode that, “We both just love each other so much and have so much love and respect for each other, and we treated each other with love and respect until the end.” He also noted that it was an “amicable” breakup, joking about how he made Terrence promise never to date another actor who was younger than Benito. “That was my one request, and he spit-shook on it. So I would love a little bit of privacy and respect for both of us.”

23. Will Arnett and Alessandra Brawn

The couple’s split was only confirmed in September 2025, although it has been reported that the breakup occurred in late 2024. The couple dated for five years and share a son, named Denny. A source told People they plan to “remain committed co-parents.” Will is currently dating spokesmodel Carolyn Murphy.

24. Ashley Park and Paul Forman

The breakup of the Emily in Paris co-stars was confirmed by People in October 2025, following rumors that the two had split after Ashley was seen attending Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s wedding alone on September 27, 2025. The couple dated for nearly two years, during which Ashley suffered a health scare that Paul was “unconditionally by [her] side through,” she wrote in an Instagram caption.

25. Laura Harrier and Sam Jarou

Rumors of the Spider-Man: Homecoming star and creative consultant’s breakup were reported by People in May 2025. Their split occurred after they had been together for over four years and had gotten engaged in 2022, with the breakup rumors following Laura’s attendance at the 2025 Met Gala, where she was seen without her engagement ring.

26. Shailene Woodley and Lucas Bravo

After dating for six months, the two split in September 2025, according to People. The news came after the two deleted photos of each other from their respective Instagram accounts. Despite the breakup, the former couple reportedly remains amicable as both parties focus on their work.

27. Akon and Tomeka Thiam

After 29 years of marriage, Tomeka filed for divorce in September 2025, citing “irreconcilable differences” and requesting joint legal custody (but sole physical custody) of the couple’s daughter, Journey. She is also seeking spousal support, according to reports from E! News. Akon is asking for joint legal and physical custody, as well as opposing spousal support for both parties.

28. Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton

The couple released a joint statement on September 19, 2025, announcing their split after almost two years of dating. “It is with much respect and deep care for each other that Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have decided to part ways,” they told the French news agency, AFP.

29. Sia and Dan Bernard

Sia filed for divorce from Dan on March 19, 2025, two years after getting married. The singer-songwriter cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, People reports. The estranged couple share a son, Somersault Wonder, who Sia originally requested legal and physical custody of (though she was open to Dan receiving visitation rights).

In August 2025, People confirmed that Dan’s request for sole custody of Somersault after he claimed that Sia was an “unfit parent” had been denied. This means that the former couple will return to their previous custody arrangement, wherein Sia has primary custody of Somersault, and Dan gets limited and monitored visitations.

30. Adam Lambert and Oliver Gliese

After being together for over three years, the couple split in July 2025, according to TMZ. The breakup was described as amicable and drama-free, though neither has publicly commented on the split.

31. Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales

The split between the winners of Love Island USA Season 6 was confirmed by Amaya on August 27, 2025, just one month after they were voted the winners of the show. She posted on her Instagram story, stating, “Bryan and I are no longer together. After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys. Our visions didn’t align, and relationships are supposed to be a team sport. You don’t have to drink the whole sea to know it’s salty.”

32. Blac Chyna (aka Angela White) and Derrick Milano

The couple ended their engagement in July 2025, which Chyna, who now goes by her birth name, Angela White, announced via her Instagram story on July 3, stating, “After much prayer and reflection, Derrick and I have decided to call off the engagement. We love each other deeply and are good friends, but we both believe that God’s guidance has shown us that this is the right path for both of us, as we each continue our journeys.” Despite the breakup, they are reportedly still good friends and stay in contact following their split.

33. Christina Perri and Paul Costabile

Christina filed for divorce on November 3, 2025, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation and following seven years of marriage, as People reports. They have two daughters, Carmella and Pixie Rose, whom Christina is seeking joint legal and physical custody of.

The former Dancing with the Stars Season 33 partners ended their on-again, off-again relationship for good in April 2025, according to People. A source reported that Brooks suspected that Gleb cheated on her, leading to her ending things.

Both Brooks and Gleb took to TikTok after the news of their split got out. Brooks posted a video with the text, “Probably needed a hug,” written over it, and Gleb posted a since-deleted video of himself lip-syncing to an audio clip that stated, “To everyone who watches my life and gossips about it, don’t give up. Season 2 is about to come out.”

35. DJ Anyma and Grimes

After dating for over a year, a source confirmed their split to People in August 2025, stating, “Anyma and Grimes have amicably parted ways but still remain good friends and collaborators.” Despite the breakup, though, they are reportedly still planning to release new music together in the future.

36. Sasha Farber and Jenn Tran

The Dancing with the Stars Season 33 competitors split in June 2025, after less than a year of dating. A source told People that they were still “very good friends” despite the breakup, though.

37. Tommy Dorfman and Elise Williams

Tommy filed for divorce from Elise on May 16, 2025, two years after they secretly eloped in 2023. Though, fans speculated that the two had split when the 13 Reasons Why star posted on Instagram on December 29, 2024, in which parts of the caption read, “1: heartbreak feels good in a place like this (i wrote this entirely original line)” and “fiona loves her new home and, while it’s just the two of us now, i think she’s managing better than i.”

Dermot filed for divorce from his wife of 15 years on June 21, 2025, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. The actor requested joint physical and legal custody of their two daughters, Mabel Ray and Sally June, and a source reported to People that, “No one is asking for anything, and no one is denying anything. They are not arguing over the children nor money.”

39. Zach Gilford and Kiele Sanchez

After 12 years of marriage, Zach filed for divorce on April 18, 2025, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, according to People. The former couple has two children together,  Zeppelin and Revel, whom Zach is seeking joint legal and physical custody of with Kiele.

40. Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker

After 11 years of marriage, Kandi filed for divorce on November 21, 2025. A source told People that Todd had been “talking to other women behind her back,” and the The Real Housewives of Atlanta star and singer-songwriter stated in an Amazon Live that “this is something that has been brewing for a while.” Kandi originally asked for joint custody of the couple’s two children, Ace and Blaze, but Todd is seeking primary physical custody of the children and is contesting their prenup.

41. Yolanda Hadid and Joseph Jingoli

The two split in January 2025 after a six-year-long relationship and three-year engagement. Though neither has publicly commented on their breakup, a source told People, “They remain friends and have nothing but fond memories of their time together.”

42. Jamie Foxx and Alyce Huckstepp

Jamie and Alyce broke up in January 2025, after dating for over a year. Despite their split, they have been spotted spending time together on various occasions following the breakup, including in California on April 14, 2025, and in Miami on October 31, 2025, according to People.

43. Emily Osment and Jack Anthony

The couple’s divorce was finalized in September 2025, just five months after getting married. Emily filed for divorce on March 7, 2025, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. In a statement to People, the Young Sheldon actor said, “I think with any big decision in your life, whether it’s relationships or work or whatever it may be, you have to firmly plant both feet in that decision. Ultimately, it didn’t work out.”

The couple’s split was confirmed in January 2025, after 10 years of marriage. “Eric and I have been living separately, navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Jessica shared with People. The singer-actress and former NFL player have three children together: Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie. Jessica continued, saying, “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”

45. Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell

After four years together, the former Bachelor announced that the two were splitting on January 16, 2025, on Instagram post, writing, “Father God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts. Give us a peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding. Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us. And remind us that our Joy comes from you, Lord 💔”

When Rachael appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast on January 28, 2025, she opened up about the breakup, stating, “At the end of the day, there are things that we aren’t compatible with. It was just one of those things where I think he had the realization that, ‘I should want to propose to you by this time … I should be ready for that, but I’m not still.’”

46. Savannah Chrisley and Robert Shiver

The couple broke up in April 2025, after almost two years together. The two had previously broken up in March 2025 for a brief time before Savannah confirmed in an episode of her Unlocked podcast on August 5, 2025, that they got back together once her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, were released from prison. But this ended with her getting “ghosted,” as she stated, “I don’t think that’s actually ever happened to me before, so I really didn’t know how to act. After 24 hours of not hearing from him, I was like, ‘Savannah, you deserve better behavior than this.’ So, I blocked him.”

47. Courtney Ford and Brandon Routh

After 17 years of marriage, Courtney filed for divorce on January 8, 2025, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, according to People. On January 9, 2025, the former couple shared a statement on Instagram that read, “To everyone who has loved and supported us, we have some personal news to share. After 21 years together, and 17 years of marriage, we have decided to begin a new journey, and enter this next chapter of life as friends and co-parents.” In the divorce settlement, both agreed to joint legal and physical custody of their son, Leo, and Brandon waived his right to spousal support.

48. Shemar Moore and Jesiree Dizon

After almost five years together, the couple’s breakup was confirmed on January 30, 2025. Jesiree released a statement via Instagram post on January 31 that read, “As Shemar said, breakups aren’t easy, ESPECIALLY publicly so we ask that you please continue to give us love and grace as we navigate our new reality and respect our privacy to allow us to heal.”

“Our commitment is not only to keep our love for each other alive and strong through the best friendship, but by also being the BEST co-parents in continuing to raise our daughter, Frankie, and Kaiden and Charli,” Jesiree continued in her Instagram post.

49. Paris Jackson and Justin Long

The couple called off their engagement in July 2025, after being together for about three years. A tweet from the singer-songwriter on July 31, 2025, confirmed her split from the music producer, saying, “those are breakup tears. y’all are fkn reaching again,” in response to photos of her crying in public.

50. Brittany Wisniewski and Mod Sun

The Love Is Blind star and musician split in April 2025, after dating for five months. Brittany wrote a statement to People, stating, “Just to clear the air, Mod and I have gone our separate ways. It was a fun time, and I’m grateful for the experiences, but I’m in a new place now and ready for what’s next. I’m excited to focus on what I love, keep growing, and yes — start dating again. Nothing more inspiring than embarking on a new chapter.”
