Intrepid Travel has acquired Wild Bush Luxury and its luxury lodges in Australia: Arkaba Walk and Homestead in South Australia and Bamurra Plains in the Northern Territory.
Wild Bush Luxury operates guided walking tours.
The acquisition is part of Intrepid’s strategy to expand premium, nature-based experiences in Australia. Wild Bush Luxury’s tours and lodges will join Intrepid’s portfolio in February.
“Travelers are increasingly seeking meaningful ways to connect with land, wildlife and culture, and by expanding our portfolio with iconic guided walks and premium lodges, we’re offering experiences that immerse them in some of the country’s most extraordinary landscapes,” said Intrepid’s Australia and New Zealand managing director, Brett Mitchell.
Adventure tour operator Experience Co. sold Wild Bush to Intrepid. CEO John O’Sullivan said that after reviewing the company’s portfolio, a decision was made to focus on its marine, Treetops Adventure and skydive/aviation businesses.
Intrepid’s 2026 expansion
Intrepid unveiled over 100 new itineraries for next year across 50-plus countries, the operator’s largest expansion to date.
The itineraries include two new trip ranges: Short Breaks, which Intrepid developed with Americans in mind, and Premium Walking and Trekking, driven by a 9% increase in 2025 active trip bookings.
Intrepid also has observed a 15% uptick this year in family bookings. The operator has launched 10 new family trips and begun a new children’s pricing policy — a 20% discount for kids 17 and younger.
Among the new itineraries, Intrepid will operate the four-day Acatenango Volcano Hike and Antigua Short Break, which features hiking Guatemala’s volcanoes and learning about sustainable agriculture at a women-led farming project.
As part of the new Premium Walking and Trekking collection, Intrepid will offer a nine-day walking and hiking itinerary in Vietnam. Travelers will start and end in Hanoi, hiking through tea plantations and rice terraces. The $3,095 trip includes staying at the Garrya Mu Cang Chai Eco Lodge and eating at a Michelin-starred restaurant.
