Nicole Kidman hinted at her emotional struggles after she and Keith Urban ended their 19-year marriage.
The “Babygirl” actress shared an update on her well-being during a conversation with Ariana Grande for Interview Magazine published Monday.
“How are you?” Grande asked, to which Kidman replied, “I’m hanging in there.”
The “Big Little Lies” alum, 58, also shared that she felt “very safe” and “protected” while filming the sequel to her 1998 movie “Practical Magic” this summer — shortly before her breakup came to light.
“Sandy Bullock and I, and then Joey King and Maisie [Williams] — we had an incredible cast,” she shared of the new movie, adding that the project was “so fun.”
She then explained that filming movies is often not so fun because it can be emotionally draining.
“But I have such a strong relationship with all those women, so I felt protected and loved,” she said. “It was just very, very safe.”
Kidman went on to reflect on how special it was to be able to reunite with Sandra Bullock to reprise their roles as sister witches.
“To come back to something so many years later and go, ‘We’re still able to get this movie made at a big big studio like Warner’s,’ and that Sandy and I were able to produce it and get it made, is insane,” she said.
A source confirmed to Page Six in September that Kidman and Urban, also 58, were calling it quits after almost two decades of marriage.
“Sometimes relationships just run their course,” our source said at the time, adding that Kidman “did not want the separation and was trying to save things.”
They had reportedly been living separately since the beginning of the summer, with Kidman caring for their two kids: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
Kidman officially filed for divorce on Sept. 30 — shortly before speculation began swirling that Urban may have been romantically involved with his much-younger guitarist Maggie Baugh.
The actress is reportedly focusing her energy on making sure her daughters are okay.
“The last thing Nicole wanted was a broken family,” a source told the Sun, adding that her “focus [is] on creating new traditions with her daughters and keeping their home life as steady and loving as possible.”
