On Tuesday evening, the “Manchild” singer proved that the trending hue really is her color as she stepped out in a cozy all-yellow fit while leaving a Saturday Night Live dinner at Lattanzi in New York City.
With her look, Carpenter illustrated the ways in which being short n’ sweet can have its advantages. For example, you can treat a sweater like a minidress.

That’s exactly what the Grammy winner did with her asymmetrical knit top. The sweater featured a thick fold-over neckline that hung off one of her shoulders, while the bottom hem was equally slanted.
The piece extended just long enough to double as a minidress, and as a true testament to the transitional weather, the pop singer decided to go completely pantsless.
For an ’80s touch, Carpenter paired the chunky jumper with a set of matching leg-warmer-esque calf socks, which she styled with metallic Manolo Blahnik Sedaraby d’orsay pumps adorned with jewel-encrusted brooches along the toes.

Finally, Carpenter added another pop of yellow with a vintage Chanel shoulder bag—a quilted double-flap bag that came in a bright highlighter hue.
Even the singer’s hair matched the color scheme, and it was styled in curly, turned-out waves that brushed along her shoulders.
While butter yellow has been trending since the spring, the fall 2025 runways indicated that the color is here to stay for a bit longer. Carpenter, clearly, is a fan, as she recently wore the shade during the first weekend of the Austin City Limits music festival too. Here’s hoping she doesn’t abandon it anytime soon.
