Is it over for Love Island USA couple Iris Kendall and Jose “Pepe” Garcia-Gonzalez?
The pair’s relationship status was put under the microscope on Sunday, August 24, after an X user noticed that Iris, 25, had unfollowed Pepe, 27, on Instagram.

Fans of the season 7 Love Island USA finalists took to social media Sunday evening to share concern over a potential split, with one Instagram user telling her followers she was “so upset” to hear the rumors.

That post led to further fans sharing their unique takes in the post’s comments section, with one person noting, “I thought so because she had more pics and videos of him on her page. He stopped commenting on her photos too and he was always one of the first.”
Pepe addressed his relationship with Iris during an interview with TMZ published on August 8. The professional basketball player told the outlet at the time that he and Iris were “both doing great.”
The comment came just two weeks after the couple spoke exclusively to Us about their future, revealing at the time that they both wanted to reconnect with their Love Island USA exes, Thomas John “TJ” Palma and Hannah Fields.
Iris told Us, “I do want to have a conversation with TJ. I feel like I definitely owe him an explanation for everything that has happened. It’s definitely different in the villa than the outside world. It was definitely a lot.”
As for Pepe’s friendship with Hannah, 23, he told Us that he “definitely” wanted to call her at some point. “She said something very nice about … we all came in here as strangers and no matter what, we should leave as friends. I definitely wanna give her a call at some point, reach out and just see how she’s doing,” he said at the time.
Pepe shared insight into his relationship with Iris via his Instagram account on August 16. Sharing a video of himself and Iris cuddling up to one another as they reflected on their feelings, Pepe joked that he “liked” Iris depending “on the day,” in response to a fan question.
He added, jokingly, that Iris only liked him on “days that end on y” which seemed to confuse Iris. The pair’s interaction led to a lighthearted moment that saw them break down in giggles together in front of the camera.
