A young luxury travel agent catering to high net worth holiday makers has revealed her client’s ridiculous “allergic to limes from certain countries” demand.

Olivia Ferney, 25, is a Canadian luxury travel specialist and marketing director of Top Tier Travel, known for securing ultra-high-net-worth people’s travel and lifestyle needs for themselves and their families.

The travel agent recently took to Instagram, where she boasts half a million followers, to share a call with one woman who refused to drink her margarita at her destination until she knew where the limes were sourced.

Olivia’s client said she was allergic to limes from some countries and tasked her with phoning her resort to track down the origin of the fruit.

The woman grumbled that a resort staffer she had dealt with “couldn’t tell her” where the limes were imported from or whether they were local.

“Because I’m allergic to certain limes from certain countries because of pollination and flowers that grow around it,” she told Olivia on the call.

“It’s kind of like you know when you’re allergic to peaches, and a wine might be grown close to peach trees, it’s the same kind of thing.”

The holidaymaker, who sounded to be in her 50s or 60s, said her allergy to limes isn’t always noticeable and doesn’t cause her “flare up”.

“I don’t have visible signs of allergies like my face isn’t swollen,” she said, forcing Olivia to stifle back a laugh.

“I don’t have a rash, but I know intuitively my body is rejecting certain limes.”

Nevertheless, Olivia’s client said she would rather be on the safe side in time to enjoy a drink that evening, to which the 25-year-old said she would contact the hotel to find out where it sources its limes.

Sounding satisfied, the woman told her to make the request hastily.

Taking to the caption, Olivia said there are times in her career when she “gets the giggles” but “no matter what, it’s my job to get it done”.

People in the comments joined Olivia in finding humour in the moment.

“Allergy specialist here. This isn’t a thing,” one person said.

“I’m rich, so I’m allergic in a way that poor people don’t get,” another person said.

“Maybe don’t get a margarita if you’re allergic to limes,” one more person said.

“This is how wealthy I want to be. To be absolutely insane and everyone around me tolerate it,” a fourth person said.

Another person poked fun at the woman for other bizarre parts of the conversation, like admitting a desire to be healthy while drinking alcohol.

“’I want to be healthy’ while consuming alcohol is some real mental gymnastics,” one woman said.
