Sydney Sweeney recently spoke to Variety to promote her latest movie, Christy. During the interview, the actress was asked about her name trending on social media. Sweeney replied with a chuckle, saying, “Oh! What for now?” before erupting in laughter.
Christy’s director, David Michôd, who sat behind her, chimed in saying, “Yeah, that’s my reaction when I see Sydney is trending on social media, I’m like. Oh God, what’s she done?” The remark further drew more giggles from Sweeney and the rest of the cast members.

Sweeney was at the center of controversy surrounding the recent American Eagle ad campaign for jeans. The viral video shows the Euphoria star putting on a pair of jeans, saying she has “great jeans.” The tagline sparked public outrage for the insensitive pun on jeans/genes that was perceived by some to have a racist undertone.
Sweeney’s reaction during the interview did not sit well with the fans, who are now criticizing her for having a nonchalant attitude. Many have slammed the actress for making light of the recent controversies and the issues they address. One user commented, “What for now? Oh just racism lol,” while another stated, “Being a dead-eyed supporter of autocracy is hilarious.”
