David Ortiz’s house just reset my standard for modern luxury

Like many professional athletes, David Ortiz calls the sunny state of Florida home – or at least he did until very recently. The famed former Boston Red Sox player has listed his sweeping, 10,000 square foot property in North Pinecrest for just under $12 million.

The five bedroom, eight bathroom estate is modern interior design personified, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, an Italian Officine Gullo kitchen with a walk-in pantry, and a sleek, spa-style bathroom all included.

There’s also a home theatre with comfy recliners and wet bar, and naturally, a sports lounge with nine screens and full bar. Amenities are certainly the selling point, but we also love the use of light colors and natural light throughout the home. Let’s look inside.

The lounge area mixes contemporary comforts, like the ever-popular white, boucle seating, with lush plants, which enliven the space and complement the greenery surrounding the property (it can conveniently be seen through the glass windows).

The kitchen, meanwhile, features state-of-the-art appliances and a classic combination of marble backsplash and white cabinets. The glass pendant lights add a contemporary touch and serve as a focal point above the island (a very nice kitchen lighting idea if we say so ourselves).

The dining room is striking, with twin Art Deco-style chandeliers hanging above the glass table.
