Ireland Baldwin spoke out on Perez Hilton just one day after the celebrity gossip blogger was hospitalized amid a public mental health crisis.
The 30-year-old daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger took to Instagram to share her complicated feelings about Perez Hilton’s harrowing self-harm incident on TikTok. Ireland slammed Perez’s past behavior, specifically toward her and her family, calling him “a despicable human being” before wishing him well.
On Aug. 4, Perez was seen on TikTok appearing to harm himself with a knife in an extremely graphic livestream that reportedly lasted 15 minutes before being taken down. Ireland’s comments come after Perez Hilton’s family confirmed his kids were at home and fled after ‘witnessing trauma’ ahead of his hospitalization.

Perez, real name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., became a fixture in pop culture media after launching his controversial celebrity gossip blog in 2004, which shared real-time coverage of Hollywood celebs and featured hand-doodled captions on photos.
Taking to Instagram after the incident, Ireland wrote on her Stories, “Perez Hilton has publicaly [sic] humiliated my family for years, sexualized me from a young age, commented on my weight and body (as a child), made unforgivable comments about people in my family, drew j–z coming out of my mom’s and friend’s mouths, and has always been a despicable human being.”

Perez has faced backlash throughout the years over his tabloid reporting tactics, which often included doxxing, spreading false information, and publicly outing queer celebrities.
Ireland’s father, Alec, along with his wife, Hilaria, and their 7 other children, was often the target of Perez’s ruthless coverage.
Perez has faced public scrutiny over his “cruel” treatment of Britney Spears during the height of her mental health crisis in 2007 and beyond.
Despite Ireland’s harsh words, she made sure to note that she wishes Perez and his family well, concluding her post writing, “But his children deserve better and a healthy father and I am so sad for all of them. I hope he gets the help he needs and heals.”

In March, he spent 21 days in the hospital after developing sepsis, and provided fans a personal update on his health on his YouTube channel, apologizing for his past “selfish” behavior as a gossip blogger.
“I didn’t care who I hurt, I just cared about the views, the attention, the money — people hated me,” he admitted, adding, “Some people enjoyed it, but it felt like most people hated me.”
Perez’s concerning livestream, which fans initially thought was a stunt, abruptly ended as the media personality alluded to law enforcement arriving at his Miami residence before he was taken to the hospital for treatment. TikTok faced criticism over the stream, which lasted roughly 15 minutes, and over the platform’s delayed action to take it down.
After the incident, Perez’s family confirmed that he was receiving medical care, noting that the “family’s focus right now is on his well-being.”
