High-profile celebrity couples are frequently confronted with split rumors, and one pair that’s faced such speculation for years is President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
Reports indicate they don’t get along and even sleep in separate rooms, with new claims from The Irish Star suggesting that their marriage is barely hanging on by a thread.

According to the outlet, Trump’s executive assistant, Natalie Harp, is partially to blame for the POTUS’ strained relationship with Melania. Harp is reportedly “obsessed” with Trump and has been seen with him far more than Melania, who, according to The Daily Beast, has only been seen in public 38 days in 2026.
Trump biographer Michael Wolff previously alleged on his Substack that Melania’s locked in a power struggle with Harp and “would not show up” to events if Harp was in attendance. Wolff also claimed that Trump and Melania “barely speak” these days.
In response, relationship expert Gemma Logan told The Irish Star that their marriage is likely “not in a healthy place.”
“A marriage where two people are reportedly barely speaking is clearly not in a healthy place. Communication is the heartbeat of any long term relationship,” she said. “When conversation becomes minimal, couples can start living parallel lives rather than a shared one. At that point, the question isn’t simply whether they spend time together, but whether they still feel emotionally connected when they do.”
Despite an alleged rough patch, Logan believes the two could eventually come back stronger than ever. “If reports about Donald and Melania Trump are accurate, the most important thing to remember is that distance in a marriage doesn’t always mean the relationship is over.”
“Some couples need constant closeness to feel connected,” she continued. “Others function with far more independence, particularly when both partners have demanding lives, strong personalities and very different ways of dealing with public attention.”
Logan even pointed out that there’s a good chance a marriage “can survive distance”—as long as there isn’t an “emotional disconnection” between both parties. “Living in different places doesn’t automatically spell trouble. Plenty of couples have successful relationships while spending significant periods apart because of work, family responsibilities or lifestyle choices.”
“The real issue is what happens emotionally during that time,” she noted. “If the distance is mutually agreed, openly discussed and balanced with genuine affection, it can work. In some cases, a little breathing room can even make a relationship stronger.”
Logan added, “However, if physical distance is being used to avoid conflict, emotional intimacy or difficult conversations, it can become a sign of a much deeper problem. The key question for Donald and Melania Trump is whether their separate routines are simply practical or whether they reflect a relationship that has become increasingly separate in every meaningful sense.”
Even though Wolff alleged Melania has major issues with Harp, Hollywood insider Rob Shuter reported otherwise. Sources told Shuter that Melania is actually “relieved” that someone else is willing to be by Trump’s side 24/7.
“Melania isn’t jealous of Natalie — she’s grateful for her,” a Trumpworld source told Naughty But Nice. “Donald demands constant attention, and Natalie genuinely seems to enjoy giving it to him. For Melania, that takes an enormous amount of pressure off.”
Another insider went on to say that Harp “wants to be there for every meeting, every trip, every moment,” while Melania would rather skip it all. “They want entirely different relationships with Donald, and that’s exactly why this works.”
“Melania hates becoming part of somebody else’s gossip, but she absolutely doesn’t want Natalie gone,” a separate source stated. “Why would she? Natalie handles the exhausting, around-the-clock Donald duty Melania has spent years avoiding.”
