The Celebrity Silhouette is marking 15 years of service for Celebrity Cruises, having been delivered on July 18, 2011.
The vessel was the fourth in the company’s Solstice class, following the Celebrity Solstice, the Celebrity Equinox and the Celebrity Eclipse.
The ship was built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany and introduced a series of new features to the class.
Highlights of the project included the Lawn Club Grill, which was then described as the first large-ship outdoor, interactive grill restaurant that allowed guests to grill alongside a Celebrity Cruises chef.
The 122,000-ton vessel also introduced Alcoves, private cabanas available for rent overlooking the ship’s Lawn Club.
Celebrity also introduced the Hideaway onboard the ship, a space described as a “high-tech, avant-garde tree-house-like spot for vacationers relaxing with their iPads or reading a book.”
The Celebrity Silhouette was named in Hamburg during a ceremony that was livestreamed on July 21, 2011.
Michelle Morgan, then president and CEO of Signature Travel Network, served as the vessel’s godmother.
For its inaugural season, the 2,886-passenger ship offered nine- to 13-night cruises in the Mediterranean from Civitavecchia, the port near Rome, Italy.
The itineraries were highlighted by visits to the Holy Land and the Greek Islands, with calls to destinations in Israel, Turkey, Greece, Italy and Cyprus.
The Celebrity Silhouette also became the first ship in the Solstice class to sail from Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, arriving for its maiden winter season.
Sailing from the Royal Caribbean-operated terminal, the vessel offered alternating Southern and Eastern Caribbean itineraries.
The 12-night cruises included calls in St. Thomas, Antigua, St. Maarten, St. Croix and Labadee.
After undergoing a major overhaul as part of the Celebrity Revolution program, the Silhouette introduced additional staterooms, as well as new features.
For the 2026 summer season, the Celebrity Silhouette offered itineraries to Bermuda and Iceland before repositioning to Canada and New England.
Later this year, the ship is scheduled to return to Fort Lauderdale for six- to eight-night cruises to the Southern, Eastern and Western Caribbean.
