The 2026 Met Gala red carpet has come and gone, but the fun of fashion’s biggest night out isn’t confined to the halls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. After stars like Beyoncé, Zoë Kravitz, and Nicole Kidman celebrated the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition “Costume Art” on May 4, the celebration spilled out into the city and called for style that’s bolder, freer, and built for the after-hours. As the party continues, so do the looks.
The best-dressed stars at the 2026 Met Gala after-parties continued the painterly, inventive approach to dress seen on the red carpet. They leaned into the evening’s dress code, “Fashion Is Art,” a broad directive that encouraged guests to treat their outfits as works of wearable art—albeit with a decidedly after-hours twist. The emphasis on sculptural silhouettes and expressive textures persisted, but with shorter hemlines, metallics and fringe, and plenty of transparent fabrics to go around. Vintage, of course, was a popular choice for many guests as they changed from their custom red carpet frocks into archival designer pieces from some of fashion’s most beloved eras.
