Nine artists will showcase their work at the Fall River Museum of Contemporary Art beginning April 10.

The exhibition, titled “Citadel,” will run through July 19, according to a community announcement.

An opening reception is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. April 10 at the museum, located at 44 Troy St. A curator walk-through is at 2 to 4 p.m. April 25.

The exhibition features works by Miguel Fernandez de Castro, Joel Dean, Maguette Dieng, Gabriella Torres Ferrer, Emily Jones, Lydia Ourahmane, Kambel Smith, Mina Squalli-Houssaïni and Viktor Timofeev.

Curated by Cory John Scozzari, “Citadel” spans various media including installation, sculpture, video, sound, new media, and performance.

The announcement says the exhibition reflects the geopolitical complexity of contemporary times.

It aims to highlight the dynamic nature of urban life, the movement of materials and people, and the exchange of currency. Some pieces explore significant shifts in scale, creating a miniature world for the audience to engage with.

The title “Citadel” suggests a focus on the relationship between the inside and outside, examining methods of control, surveillance, and violence that maintain separation.

General gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Admission is free and open to all, with no registration required.

The museum is wheelchair accessible. Limited off-street parking is available in the parking lot of GATHER, and street parking is available along Troy Street.

Founded in 2020, the Fall River Museum of Contemporary Art was established by Brittni Ann Harvey and Harry Gould Harvey IV, who grew up in the Greater Fall River area and are practicing artists. The museum connects the global contemporary art world to Fall River through exhibitions, educational programs, and artist residencies, according to the announcement.
