When it comes to a fairytale wedding, there is no place quite like Rhode Island.
The venues in the Ocean State are nothing short of spectacular – couples have their pick of mansions, historic churches, waterfront views, vineyards and more when planning their big day.
Here’s a quick look at some other famous couples who chose Rhode Island for their nuptials.
Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffrey
The wedding of former Miss Rhode Island, former Miss Universe, model, reality show star Olivia Culpo and f NFL star Christian McCaffrey. took place at the Watch Hill Chapel with a reception at at the Ocean House in Westerly on June 29, 2024.
A five-peaked tent was set up on the lawn for guests, shielded from view with drapery.
Early in the wedding planning process, Culpo shared in a social media post that is was hard picking between McCaffrey’s home state of Colorado and hers for the wedding. But ultimately, Rhode Island, with its ocean views, won out.
“I have to say, there is a lot of pride from our little state,” she said in a TikTok video. “This is the smallest state in the country … so people think Rhode Island is an island or some people think it’s part of New York. It’s the best state in the entire world, and I’m getting married here.”
John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier
Then-Massachusetts Sen. John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier were married on Sept. 12, 1953, at St. Mary’s Church in Newport, Rhode Island. The reception for more than 1,200 guests, including several dignitaries, was at Hammersmith Farm, Jackie’s childhood summer home in Newport.
The ceremony was performed by Archbishop Cushing, a Kennedy family friend, and the wedding cake was 4 feet tall. See the photos here.
Elizabeth Beisel and Jack Nichting
Rhode Island’s favorite Olympic swimmer got married in 2024, and now People magazine offered a peek behind the scene at the festivities – including details about the Ocean State vendors the bride used.
Elizabeth Beisel, the Saunderstown native who competed in the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympic Games, winning two medals and being named captain of the 2016 team, married Jack Nichting, whom she met when they were both contestants on “Survivor,” on Sept. 7, 2024, at Bonnet Shores Beach. A reception followed at Casey Farm in Saunderstown.
And if getting married barefoot on a beach in Narragansett isn’t enough, Beisel found other ways to highlight her home state during her festivities.
According to People, the reception featured a charcuterie table from Grapes and Gourmet in Jamestown, and an oyster and shrimp boat by Watch Hill Catering in Westerly. Dinner was catered by Perro Saldo, of Newport, which included some of the restaurant’s Mexican favorites like tostones, guacamole, burrito bowls and more. The cake, made by Nichting’s mom, was accompanied by ice cream from Baron’s in Narragansett.
Billy Gilman and Anthony Carbone
Crooner Billy Gilman, who first gained prominence as an 11-year-old with his top-40 hit “One Voice” and later became a runner-up on “The Voice,” married Anthony Carbone on Friday at a 45-acre horse farm, according to People magazine. Gilman, who was born in Westerly and grew up in Richmond, said the venue reminded him of visiting his grandparents who lived on a horse farm.
Gilman and Carbone kept their nuptials pretty small, with just 115 close friends and family, People noted.
Gilman and Carbone’s love story is very Rhody-centric: They met the night before Thanksgiving in 2022 at a Providence bar; then, they got engaged after attending a Pam Tillis concert in East Greenwich, according to the magazine. So it’s no surprise that the wedding itself featured some special Ocean State touches, like dinner from Pranzi Catering of Providence, cupcakes from Casale Cupcakery and even custom-made Dunkin’ donuts as favors.

Venue: Belcourt Castle
A truly star-studded affair, five years ago Jennifer Lawrence chose Belcourt Castle, owned by Alex and Ani founder Carolyn Rafaelian, when tying the knot to art gallery director Cooke Maroney. While the event made national headlines and brought a crowd out to the gate to celebrity-spot, there aren’t pictures from inside the wedding in the public domain. What we do know is the guest list included celebrities like Adele, Kris Jenner, Cameron Diaz and more. Lawrence has only shared a few details from the event. One – that she spent most of the reception worrying that her guests were cold. And two, that at the rehearsal dinner she gave her co-star in several films, Robert De Niro, the green light to leave early.
“I looked over and I saw Bob, who doesn’t know anybody and he’s kind of wandering around, and I immediately was like, ‘No, this isn’t what he wants to be doing. I don’t want him here,'” Lawrence recalled to E! News. “So I went over and whispered, I was like, ‘Go home’ and he was nice — he talked to my parents and was polite — but I was like, ‘Go.'”

About 800 celebrities, diplomats and powerbrokers descended on Newport for the September wedding of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier in a ceremony at St. Mary’s Church in Newport. The affair has been called America’s royal wedding, and the bride looked every bit the part with a ivory tissue silk dress that was embellished with more than 50 yards of flounces and wearing a veil, worn by her grandmother, over a tiara. The ceremony was performed by the Archbishop Cushing, and a special blessing from Pope Pius XII was read before the Mass. The reception was at Hammersmith Farm in Newport.

Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon met through the “The Bachelor” franchise, but it wasn’t until they came back to the show for a cameo appearance on season 5 of “Bachelor in Paradise” that Haibon, who grew up in Warwick, proposed. The pair had a “fairytale” wedding in 2019 at Rosecliff, with Iaconetti wearing a ballgown. Many guests from “The Bachelor” franchise attended the wedding. Now, the pair own Audrey’s Coffee House & Lounge in South Kingstown and have two children together.

A TikTok star with 15.7 million followers, Mikayla Nogueira is from Massachusetts but told People magazine that she dreamed of a Newport wedding since she was a little girl. In 2023, she got her wish, walking down the aisle at Castle Hill Inn in a ballgown dress to “When I Look at You” by Miley Cyrus and “Golden Hour” by Rhode Island’s JVKE.
