Gordon Ramsay Was ‘a Hot Mess’ While Giving Speech at Daughter Holly’s Wedding

Gordon Ramsey is looking back on his daughter Holly Ramsey‘s “emotional” wedding.

The celebrity chef, 59, and his youngest daughter Matilda “Tilly” Ramsey, 24, appeared on the U.K. talk show This Morning on Monday, Jan. 5, and opened up about their major family milestone: Holly’s wedding to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty. The happy couple, who got engaged in September 2024, tied the knot in a ceremony at The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in Bath, England, on Dec. 27.

Watching Holly, 26, and Adam, 31, say “I do” was a heartfelt experience for the whole family, Tilly shared. “It was so emotional, you know, to see her and Adam so happy,” she said, adding that it was “a big day for all of us.”

The wedding was not without nerves — at least on Gordon’s part, he admitted. He was particularly concerned about getting his father-of-the-bride speech just right.

“It’s tough, honestly — I mean, being a dad with three daughters, you dream of that moment. That moment arrives, and you’re just like a hot mess,” he said. “The speech was perfect. It went well. You got to find that sort of — you’ve got to be warm, emotional … It was just a tough gig.”

Tilly revealed she helped her father rehearse the speech for roughly an hour on Christmas Eve. Gordon was meticulously reviewing the words over and over again, but “no tweaks were needed” in the end, Tilly said.

“It was perfect,” Tilly added. “It made everybody cry.”

For one of her wedding day looks, Holly wore the wedding dress her mother, Tana Ramsey, wore to marry Gordon, which came as “a bit of a shock” to him on the big day, Gordon said. But Holly didn’t wear it for the whole night, Gordon recalled — “I don’t know why you need to change three times,” he added, garnering a laugh from Tilly.

Tilly added that when her wedding day arrives, she’d “love to” wear her mother’s wedding dress, too.

Days after the wedding, in a report from British Vogue on Friday, Jan. 2, Holly said wearing her mother’s dress added a special sentimental layer to her father-daughter dance with Gordon, as “the last time Dad saw this dress was when he danced with my mom at their wedding,” she said.

Holly added that any topic related to her wedding never fails to bring tears to her father’s eyes.

“Dad cries every time I talk about the wedding,” she said, adding, “The other day I was asking him which car he and I would take to the church, and he welled up immediately.”
