What you may not know is that, in addition to investing heavily in their own homes — from living room jacuzzis to dance floors — many celebrities have also built reputations as savvy real estate investors with truly drool-worthy portfolios.
In addition to lighting up concert halls, sports arenas and the silver screen, these celebrities are also making serious moves in the property market. GOBankingRates took a look at some celebrities who are definitely not like the rest of us when it comes to their real estate holdings.
1. Beyoncé and Jay-Z
No list of celebrity investors would be complete without Queen Bey and her king, Jay-Z. These members of hip-hop royalty made headlines in 2023 when they purchased a reported $200 million Malibu home — widely described as the most expensive residential real estate transaction in California history.

According to House Beautiful, this property isn’t the only jewel in their real estate crown. The outlet reports that the couple, whose combined net worth is estimated at around $3 billion, also own an $88 million Bel Air mansion and a $26 million Hamptons home. Over the years, they have also bought and sold properties in New York City, Miami, New Orleans and beyond.
2. Taylor Swift
While Taylor Swift’s latest album promised to reveal the life of a showgirl, her real estate holdings reflect the life of a mogul. In an article devoted to Swift’s formidable portfolio, House Beautiful suggested that each home reflected one of her many “eras.”
That may be up for debate, but one thing even the haters who are gonna hate, hate, hate can’t deny is that Swift started investing in real estate young. At just 20 years old, she purchased a 3,240-square-foot condo in Nashville’s famous Adelicia building. Later that year, she bought the unit directly below it. She still owns the properties, which are collectively estimated to be worth more than $2.9 million.
From there, she snapped up properties around the country, including a Massachusetts mansion near the Kennedy family compound. When her relationship with Conor Kennedy ended, she sold the home — originally acquired for $5 million — for $5.67 million just months later, according to widely reported accounts.
3. Lionel Messi
Soccer superstar Lionel Messi doesn’t just think strategically on the field — he’s also a notable real estate investor. When Highland Cabinetry compiled its list of celebrities with the most impressive property portfolios, Messi came in second, behind Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
With seven properties valued at $232 million, it’s not hard to see why he ranked so high. The report estimated that more than 35% of his total net worth is tied up in real estate, with homes in Spain, Argentina, France and the U.S.
4. Rihanna
Whether fans will ever get another album from the singer, actress, entrepreneur and real estate investor Rihanna remains up for debate. What is not up for debate is her reputation as a highly sophisticated businesswoman with a keen eye for property.
Highland Cabinetry estimates that her real estate portfolio is worth around $150 million. Tracking some of the most notable properties she’s owned over the years, Travel Noire has highlighted her first Beverly Hills mansion purchases, as well as her luxury villa in Barbados.
5. Leonardo DiCaprio
It certainly hasn’t been one battle after another for the “Titanic” heartthrob and Scorsese muse when it comes to real estate. House Beautiful describes DiCaprio as “an avid buyer and seller of real estate.” He’s not only owned many homes in California and New York, he’s also purchased an entire island — yes, you read that right — off the coast of Belize.
As if this weren’t incredible enough, House Beautiful reported that one of his earliest purchases was a Malibu retreat on Billionaire’s Beach that was once decorated with “Titanic” memorabilia, a detail that remains legendary among fans.
6. Oprah Winfrey
No list involving celebrity wealth would be complete without Oprah Winfrey. According to Highland Cabinetry, Winfrey owns seven properties that together make up an estimated $150 million real estate portfolio.
The media mogul has acquired homes across the country, from California to Hawaii, reinforcing her status as both a cultural icon and a disciplined long-term investor.
7. David and Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham has certainly lived up to her former “Posh Spice” moniker through the real estate holdings she and her husband have acquired over the years. With five properties, the Beckhams’ portfolio is estimated at around $150 million, a figure representing roughly 30% of their reported net worth.
